The headlines report the way the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has been lying and some, myself included, are calling for an end to this snakes’ nest of global deception.

I keep waiting for some environmental group to announce that the Earth is running out of oxygen. It’s the kind of huge lie that environmentalists of every description engage in. There’s plenty of oxygen and, despite the latest lies about carbon dioxide (CO2), the great oceans of the world are not turning into reservoirs of acidity. Together these two gases are the basis for all life on Earth.

If you remember nothing else, remember that any reference by anyone to “greenhouse gas emissions” involves the lie that they influence the weather or the world’s climate.

Since 1988, when the United Nations created the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the vast global warming hoax existed for two purposes, the enrich those involved and to impose a one world government. The effort required mobilizing the leaders of nations to spread the word that the planet was dramatically warming and that carbon dioxide was the cause.

One has to marvel at the audacity of this scam. There were so many parties that had to be involved that it boggles the mind to consider that a mere handful of alleged “climate scientists” who created the computer models and provided the falsified data were able to corrupt so many real scientists into collaborating. The prospect of vast amounts of governmental and foundation funding made the process easier.

The scientists who spoke out against it were labeled “deniers”, but they were the truth-tellers and it took years of effort, culminating in four international conferences to debunk the global warming hoax. It was not, however, until November 2009 with the leak of the conspirator’s emails that the truth became widespread.

This evil scheme was supported and continues to be supported by many world leaders. President Obama traveled to Copenhagen in December 2009 to participate in a UN conference that was intended to impose one-world government and more recently the Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, made mention of “climate change”, the code words that replaced global warming.

The IPCC was so successful that at its height in 2007 it shared a Nobel Peace Prize with former Vice President Al Gore. This prize is now so worthless that future recipients may not wish to be so honored.

Yes, there is climate change. There has, for 4.5 billion years of the Earth’s existence, always been climate change. There have been ice ages, magnetic reversals, volcanic activity, tsunamis, earthquakes and a host of other natural events.

To suggest, however, that climate change is influenced by too much carbon dioxide lacks all scientific merit. There simply isn’t enough CO2 in the Earth’s atmosphere to have any impact.

The single most powerful determinant of the Earth’s climate was and is the Sun.

Putting aside the United Nations’ never-ending effort to exert authority over all the nations and all the peoples of the world, global warming was about an audacious scheme to monetize carbon dioxide; to sell “carbon credits” and, by doing so, enrich those who were behind the scheme.

An indictment was handed down Aug. 30 by the Southern District Court of New York that shows a connection between Hezbollah – the proxy army of Iran and a designated terrorist organization – and the drug cartels that violently plague the U.S.-Mexico border.

In short, a well-known international arms dealer was trying to orchestrate an arms-for-drugs deal in which cocaine from FARC – the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, which works with Mexican drug cartels to take cocaine into America – would be traded for thousands of weapons housed by a Hezbollah operative in Mexico.

This most recent case brings up several questions: Why would a member of Hezbollah be in Mexico? Why would Hezbollah need thousands of weapons in Mexico? Why are members of Hezbollah willing to work with FARC? Perhaps to exchange weapons for drugs? If Hezbollah has guns in Mexico and wants drugs, isn’t it logical to assume that it is trading with more accessible Mexican drug cartels?

This is just the most recent incident in which it’s clear that Hezbollah may have a presence in Mexico and along our southern border. There have been more incidents – which have been ignored by the Obama administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

On June 23, I sent a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano asking her to establish a task force to investigate the presence of Hezbollah along the U.S.-Mexico border.

The evidence is there: Hezbollah’s cooperation with countries across South America. Highly sophisticated tunnels for transferring drugs across the U.S.-Mexico border, ones very similar to the tunnels dug by Hezbollah into Israel. The close relationship between Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and the increase in Iranian nationals traveling through Venezuela to receive false documents, which they use to cross into the United States. Mexican officials raising concerns about Hezbollah operatives possibly training Mexican drug cartel enforcers in making car bombs.

Michael Braun, a former Drug Enforcement Administration chief of operations, has even been quoted as saying, “Hezbollah relies on the same criminal weapons smugglers, document traffickers and transportation experts as the drug cartels. ... They work together; they rely on the same shadow facilitators. One way or another, they are all connected.”

Only a few weeks after I sent this letter, it was reported that Jameel Nasr, a Mexican national with ties to Hezbollah in Lebanon, “entrusted with forming a base in South America and the United States to carry out operations against Israeli and Western targets,” was arrested by the Mexican government. Days later, a cell-phone-detonated car bomb – the first of its kind reported used by Mexican drug cartels – was deployed just across the U.S.-Mexico border in Juarez. On Aug. 27, another car bomb exploded in a U.S.-Mexico border state. These car bombs show an evolution in the tactics being used by the drug cartels and bear a strong resemblance to those employed by Hezbollah, raising questions as to who trained the cartels.

Doesn’t the protection of the American public deserve answers? The primary role of the federal government is to protect its citizens. Unfortunately, the administration continues to sit by idly while security threats go uninvestigated. And that’s all I’m requesting – an investigation to find out what’s going on along our southern border.

To date, I have not received a response from the Department of Homeland Security informing me of any decision to investigate. How much more is it going to take?

Western intelligence and Persian Gulf sources report that on August 30, Hizballah put its forces on a state of war alert and issued a partial call-up of reservists. According to DEBKAfile’s military sources, Hizballah appears to be preparing a major attack on Israel straight after the ceremonial start of Israeli-Palestinian peace talks in Washington Thursday Sept. 2.

A second target date is the Jewish New Year festival starting on Sept. 8. The pressure from Tehran for the Lebanese Shiite terrorists to strike Israel has intensified in the wake of the example the Palestinian Hamas gave Tuesday night Aug. 31 in the drive-by murder of four Israeli civilians on a road near Hebron.

A large-scale attack appears to be in the works judging by the heavy influx of armed Hizballah units to southern Lebanon in the last few days. Our military sources report that they include special units trained especially for deep-strike incursions into northern Israel in response to Israeli counter-attacks.

Our intelligence sources report that the Iranian al Qods commander of Tehran’s networks and surrogates in Iraq, the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian Authority has spent the last ten days in Damascus. He arrived there on August 19 in the party of Gen. Mohammad Ali Jafari, Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) chief and stayed on after his boss left the Syrian capital, apparently assigned to oversee an important terrorist or military operation against Israel.

Hizballah’s own direct commander on behalf of the IRGC, Hassan Mahdavi is reported by Western intelligence sources monitoring events in Lebanon as leaning hard on Hizballah’s secretary-general Hassan Nasrallah to strike IDF forces within a few days in response to US sponsorship of direct Israeli-Palestinian talks. The terrorist chief is reported to be on the verge of a decision about what target to attack and when.

Reluctant to leave the field to the Palestinian Hamas, Nasrallah is additionally badgered by a flock of IRGC officers visiting Beirut and trying to persuade Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Beri to allow his rival Shiite Amal organization to join Hizballah for the first time in a strike against Israel. They want all the Shiite streams in Lebanon to show the flag in unison as a gesture of welcome in advance of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s forthcoming state visit to Lebanon.

The date of his visit is a closely-kept secret both by Tehran and Beirut. DEBKAfile’s sources disclose that it is scheduled for Sept. 10-12 when Israel is celebrating Rosh Hashana.

We see more casualties each day; including 19 US KIA since Saturday, yet the leadership stands by its self-destructive and self-defeating strategy of “counter-insurgency” (COIN) doctrine and nation-building. Since January 2002, can you cite the victories for America in Afghanistan?

Please read this latest report by an Army Reserve Colonel serving at the International Security Assistance Force Joint Command in Afghanistan. Incidentally, he was fired after writing this harsh criticism of the military’s use of PowerPoint slides in what he says is an unproductive, top-heavy environment. Since this report emerged, the Colonel was fired.

Former Colonel, Lawrence Sellinand was mirroring the same message that has been coming to light over the past few years. I said on the Fred Thompson radio show when General Petraeus departed for Kabul: “you will see no change and the situation will get worse.” I feel confident in quoting this Colonel as we have received so many other reports from others serving in Afghanistan validating what he is saying.

U.S. Officer In Afghanistan Mows Down PowerPoint Rangers

KABUL, Afghanistan, Aug. 24 (UPI) – Throughout my career I have been known to walk that fine line between good taste and unemployment. I see no reason to change that now. Consider the following therapeutic. I have been assigned as a staff officer to a headquarters in Afghanistan for about two months. During that time, I have not done anything productive. Fortunately little of substance is really done here, but that is a task we do well. We are part of the operational arm of the International Security Assistance Force commanded by U.S. Army Gen. David Petraeus. It is composed of military representatives from all the NATO countries, several of which I cannot pronounce.

Officially, IJC was founded in late 2009 to coordinate operations among all the regional commands in Afghanistan. More likely it was founded to provide some general a three-star command. Starting with a small group of dedicated and intelligent officers, IJC has successfully grown into a stove-piped and bloated organization, top-heavy in rank. Around here you can’t swing a dead cat without hitting a colonel.

For headquarters staff, war consists largely of the endless tinkering with PowerPoint slides to conform with the idiosyncrasies of cognitively challenged generals in order to spoon-feed them information. Even one tiny flaw in a slide can halt a general’s thought processes as abruptly as a computer system’s blue screen of death. The ability to brief well is, therefore, a critical skill. It is important to note that skill in briefing resides in how you say it. It doesn’t matter so much what you say or even if you are speaking Klingon. Random motion, ad hoc processes and an in-depth knowledge of Army minutia and acronyms are also key characteristics of a successful staff officer. Harried movement together with furrowed brows and appropriate expressions of concern a la Clint Eastwood will please the generals. Progress in the war is optional.

Each day is guided by the “battle rhythm,” which is a series of PowerPoint briefings and meetings with PowerPoint presentations. It doesn’t matter how inane or useless the briefing or meeting might be. Once it is part of the battle rhythm, it has the persistence of carbon 14. And you can’t skip these events because they take roll—just like gym class.

The start and culmination of each day is the commander’s update assessment. Please ignore the fact that “update assessment” is redundant. Simply saying commander’s update doesn’t provide the possibility of creating a three-letter acronym. It also doesn’t matter that the commander never attends the CUA. The CUA consists of a series of PowerPoint slides describing the events of the previous 12 hours. Briefers explain each slide by reading from a written statement in a tone not unlike that of a congressman caught in a tryst with an escort. The CUA slides only change when a new commander arrives or the war ends.

The commander’s immediate subordinates, usually one- and two-star generals, listen to the CUA in a semi-comatose state. Each briefer has approximately 1 or 2 minutes to impart either information or misinformation. Usually they don’t do either. Fortunately, none of the information provided makes an indelible impact on any of the generals.

One important task of the IJC is to share information to the ISAF commander, his staff and to all the regional commands. This information is delivered as PowerPoint slides in e-mail at the flow rate of a fire hose. Standard operating procedure is to send everything that you have. Volume is considered the equivalent of quality.

Next month IJC will attempt a giant leap for mankind. In a first-of-its-kind effort, IJC will embed a new stovepipe into an already existing stovepipe. The rationale for this bold move resides in the fact that an officer, who is currently without one, needs a staff of 35 people to create a big splash before his promotion board. Like most military organizations, structure always trumps function. The ultimate consequences of this reorganization won’t be determined until after that officer rotates out of theater. Nevertheless, the results will be presented by PowerPoint.

The COIN principle is not based on winning it is based on political whims and is not a true tenet of warfare. Warfare is, and always should be, about WINNING or do not go to War. Great Generals and Admirals of battles past had enough acumen and understanding of the tides of battle to change the strategies and tactics to turn the tide on the enemy. Not today!

Winning this specific war against forces impelled by Islamic ideology calls for unconventional measures and not the conventional actions followed by lengthy occupations such as we have seen in Iraq and Afghanistan. The more things change, the more they remain the same. From its imperiled beginnings, from the plainly one-sided inception of Oslo, the so-called “Middle East Peace Process” never gave Israel a chance. Widely animated by a distinctly lascivious Arab will to exploit the agreement in order to hasten Israel’s incremental elimination, a Final Solution to the Israel Question, it remains, even today, little more than an enemy Trojan Horse. Ironically, from the standpoint of current U.S. and other national foreign policies, the “Peace Process” is now routinely characterized as a road map.

The benign cartography is sorely misleading. Oslo I, known generally as the Declaration of Principles, was concluded and signed in Oslo, on August 19, 1993, and resigned in Washington D.C. on September 13, 1993. Oslo II was signed in Washington D.C. on September 28, 1995. As expressed in a still-steadily enlarging Palestinian terrorist movement against Israel, and in the total numbers of Israelis killed and maimed by suicide bombers and other terrorists since August 19, 1993 (the present “calm” will not last), the Middle East Peace Process has been a resounding failure.

Let us not kid ourselves. From Rabin onwards, all of Israel’s prime ministers seemingly felt more-or-less obligated to honor the Oslo Accords. From the standpoint of an informed jurisprudence, this obligation was never supported by authoritative norms or expectations, but rather by the gratuitously popular notion that such signed documents were valid and binding ipso facto. From the start, in fact, the law of nations actually required abrogation, not compliance, with what were unassailably invalid and illegal agreements. Moreover, as Israel’s position on Oslo has affected its overall nuclear security posture, I will, in this three-part column also explain the relevant interrelatedness of law and power.

The Oslo Accords between Israel and the PLO were always in violation of incontrovertible international law. Israel, therefore, has always been obligated to abrogate these nontreaty agreements. A comparable argument could be made regarding PLO/PA obligations, but this would make little jurisprudential sense in light of that nonstate party’s antecedent incapacity to enter into any equal legal arrangement with Israel.

Taken by itself, the fact that the Oslo Accords do not constitute authentic treaties under the Vienna Convention, because they link a state with a nonstate party, did not call for prima facie abrogation. But, as the nonstate party, in this case just happened to be a terrorist organization whose leaders must be punished for their documented egregious crimes, any agreement with this party that offered rewards rather than punishments was immediately null and void. In view of the peremptoryexpectation known in law as Nullum crimen sine poena, “No crime without a punishment,” the state party in such an agreement, here the State of Israel, actually violated international law byhonoringthe illegal agreement.

How little has been understood by politicians and pundits. According to Principle I of the binding Nuremberg Principles: “Any person who commits an act which constitutes a crime under international law is responsible therefore and liable to punishment.” It is from this principle, which applies with particular relevance to Hostes humani generis (“Common enemies of Humankind”), and which originates in three separate passages of the Torah, that each state’s obligation to seek out and prosecute terrorists derives. Hence, for Israel to honor agreements with terrorists, agreements that sometimes required, among other pertinent violations, the release of thousands of other terrorists, was to dishonor the core meanings of international law. There is also additional irony here, as Israel repeatedly released large number of terrorists by its own volition.

JUDGE TO RULE THURSDAY ON DEFENSE REQUEST FOR DEPOSITION OF HAWAIIAN OFFICIALS AND FOR WRITTEN DISCOVERY OF ALL OF PRESIDENT’S SCHOOL AND COLLEGE RECORDS

Retired Air Force Lieutenant General Thomas McInerney has supplied an affidavit in support of Army Lieutenant Colonel Terrence Lakin, who faces trial on October 13-15. The retired Air Force three-star is the highest ranking officer yet to lend public support to LTC Lakin. His affidavit acknowledges widespread concerns over the President’s Constitutional eligibility and demands the President release his birth records or the court authorize discovery.

McInerney’s sworn affidavit was filed in Court-Martial in support of Lakin’s motions for subpoenas for all of the president’s school records, and for a deposition of the custodian of Obama’s birth records in the possession of the State of Hawaii.

The Judge has set a hearing in the Court Martial on these motions for this coming Thursday, September 2nd at 11:00 at Ft. Meade, Maryland. All court proceedings are open to the public. The courthouse is located within Ft. Meade at 4432 Llewellyn Avenue, which is on the corner of Llewellyn and Ernie Pyle Road. At the first intersection after the Reece Road gate, you should turn left on to Ernie Pyle Road. The courthouse is approximately 1 mile south of the intersection of Reece Road and Ernie Pyle Road.

LTC Lakin is a physician, and is in his 18th year of service in the Army. He is Board Certified in Family Medicine and Occupational and Environmental Medicine. He has been recognized for his outstanding service as a flight surgeon for year-long tours in Honduras, Bosnia and Afghanistan. He was also awarded the Bronze Star for his service in Afghanistan and recognized in 2005 as one of the Army Medical Department’s outstanding flight surgeons.

In March of this year, he announced in a video posted on YouTube that he would refuse to obey orders until receiving proof of the President’s eligibility. So far, more than 225,000 people have viewed that video.

McInerney’s affidavit can be viewed at www.safeguardourconstitution.com. The following are extracts:

The President of the United States, as the Commander in Chief, is the source of all military authority. The Constitution requires the President to be a natural born citizen in order to be eligible to hold office. If he is ineligible under the Constitution to serve in that office that creates a break in the chain of command of such magnitude that its significance can scarcely be imagined.

As a practical example from my background I recall commanding forces that were equipped with nuclear weapons. In my command capacity I was responsible that personnel with access to these weapons had an unwavering and absolute confidence in the unified chain of command, because such confidence was absolutely essential – vital – in the event the use of those weapons was authorized. I cannot overstate how imperative it is to train such personnel to have confidence in the unified chain of command. Today, because of the widespread and legitimate concerns that the President is constitutionally ineligible to hold office, I fear what would happen should such a crisis occur today.

In refusing to obey orders because of his doubts as to their legality, LTC Lakin has acted exactly as proper training dictates. That training mandates that he determine in his own conscience that an order is legal before obeying it…Indeed, he has publicly stated that he “invites” his own court martial, and were I the Convening Authority, I would have acceded to his wishes in that regard. But thus stepping up the bar, LTC Lakin is demonstrating the courage of his convictions and his bravery. That said, it is equally essential that he be allowed access to the evidence that will prove whether he made the correct decision.

For the foregoing reasons, it is my opinion that LTC Lakin’s request for discovery relating to the President’s birth records in Hawaii is absolutely essential to determining not merely his guilt or innocence but to reassuring all military personnel once and for all for this President whether his service as Commander in Chief is Constitutionally proper. He is the one single person in the Chain of Command that the Constitution demands proof of natural born citizenship.

This determination is fundamental to our Republic, where civilian control over the military is the rule. According to our Constitution, the Commander in Chief must now, in the face of serious – and widely held- concerns that he is ineligible, either voluntarily establish his eligibility by authorizing release of his birth records or this court must authorize their discovery. The invasion of his privacy in these records is utterly trivial compared to the issues at stake here. Our military MUST have confidence their Commander in Chief lawfully holds this office and absent which confidence grievous consequences may ensue.

Lakin is represented by military counsel, and by Paul Rolf Jensen, a civilian attorney from California who has been provided to him by the American Patriot Foundation, a non-profit group incorporated in 2003 to foster appreciation and respect for the U.S. Constitution, which has established a fund for Lakin’s legal defense. A combat controller, who is now charged with helping fill the special tactics ranks, was presented with two Bronze Stars with valor during a ceremony held recently at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.

Master Sgt. Ken Huhman, a special tactics recruiter in San Antonio, received the medals for his actions during a 2007 deployment to Afghanistan while assigned to the 23rd Special Tactics Squadron at Hurlburt Field, Fla.

Abeer Mohammed is a senior local editor based in Baghdad for Institute of War and Peace Reporting. Here’s an excerpt from a post at the IWPR site about the story behind his sensational report (posted below) on how teachers in Iraq are schooling their students in jihad and Islamic supremacism:

For this story, I tried to interview sources in schools in several Baghdad neighbourhoods but the headmasters refused. So I waited for teachers, parents and students outside of schools in Sunni, Shia and mixed neighbourhoods. One day, I spent six hours in front of a school in a poor Shia-majority area of Baghdad.

I faced the most resistance from officials who gave me veiled warnings to not report on such a hot topic. One official told me I was pushing too hard on this issue, and another accused me of defaming Islam.

When I asked one official why there was no curriculum on Christianity, he became nervous and angry and told me I should not focus on the curricula.

A female Muslim legislator defended the textbooks and asked me, “What is your name again? And where do you work?” Because I always identify myself in any case, these were not questions I was comfortable hearing.

His report is also one that people, whether in Iraq or particularly in the US, are not comfortable hearing. Who in the US, now that the war in Iraq has “ended,” wants to hear that in American-liberated Iraq, Islamic education class is Iraqi schools, many of which were rebuilt or built by US soldiers, is teaching jihad and Islamic supremacism? Certainly not Americans fond of claiming victory.

Mohammed Abeer’s report from the Kansas City Star (via Islamization Watch):

Zuhair Jerjis and Ahmed Mohammed are both 10. They attend the same Baghdad school and often ride home together. After school, the two get together and play video games.

But Ahmed is worried. He wonders if some day he will have to murder his best friend.

The boys go to the same school and share a ride home to the same district of Baghdad, but their parents do not share the same faith.

Zuhair’s family is Christian and Ahmed’s is Muslim. Recent religious lessons at school have left Ahmed questioning what end awaits his friendship.

“Our teacher tells us it is forbidden in Islam to make friends with unbelievers,” he said. “When I study that we have to fight the unbelievers in the name of jihad, I think, ‘Will I kill Zuhair one day?’”

Ahmed’s family in Muslim; Zuhair’s is Christian. And it turns out that in Iraq’s schools today, religious tolerance is not part of the curriculum.

Religious education is a regular feature of public schools in Iraq. Because Zuhair is a Christian, he is not required to attend religious classes. But because the vast majority of his classmates are Muslims, Zuhair said he often feels alone and isolated.

When a farmer from a small South Lebanese village recently went to check on his family’s olive grove in the valley beyond his village, he suddenly found himself surrounded by masked Hezbollah soldiers, who had dropped down around him from the trees in which they had been hiding.

“What are you doing here?” they asked.

“I came to inspect my family’s olives trees”, he responded. “This grove has been in our family for generations and it is almost time for the harvest.”

“Forget your family’s olive trees.” He was told. “This is now a restricted military area. Go back to your village and never come back here.”

That valley, hidden from above by a thick canopy of trees, is now home to hundreds of missiles, ready to be deployed against Israel, waiting only for a signal from Iran to ignite the next war.

Over the last ten years, since Israel’s departure from South Lebanon in 2000, Hezbollah has transformed this once magnificent country from a cultural center of the Middle East to a battle zone. From the smallest village to the cosmopolitan capital city of Beirut, and from the Mediterranean Sea in the west to the Syrian border in the east, Hezbollah has created a rule of military tyranny and spread an atmosphere of claustrophobic fear among the residents.

Hezbollah now plays a dominant role in Lebanese government, although they won only eleven of 128 seats in the 2009 parliamentary election. Supported by their patrons in Iran and Syria, they have systematically taken control of much of the country. They continue to threaten the West in both their rhetoric and in their activities abroad (including here, in cities throughout the US), but their most immediate targets are Israel (of course), and Lebanon itself.

For Lebanon, Hezbollah represents the threat of total Islamization and the disappearance of the free society that pre-dated by many decades Lebanon’s independence in 1943. For Israel, they threaten the total annihilation of the tiny nation.

The current situation in Lebanon didn’t happen overnight. It is the predictable outcome of many years of uninformed and erratic foreign policy by Western nations, most particularly America. Our government’s total lack of understanding of the dynamics of Middle Eastern culture and their impact on the potential for successful ‘peace’ talks has had the opposite effect, leading not to peace, but to war.

Minimum estimate of Saturday’s crowd on the Mall: 300,000 Maximum estimate: One million people.

Meaning of the crowd: An enormous upheaval in the emotions of average Americans is coursing through the country, with a certain significance for November’s elections. It will have a lasting, profound impact on America’s political direction.

Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin provided an occasion to glimpse this undeniable phenomenon. Of course, the interpretations of what the phenomenon is and what its consequences will be will keep the chattering class busy for weeks, if not years.

Some on the left are trying, with increasing desperation, to use old and new media to brand this surge in public participation in politics as sinister, even though it was preceded by a surge from the left of people and energy into President Obama’s campaign.

The new tools of communication and the ease of movement have unleashed a tumultuous era of politics driven by the demand that elites not attempt to speak for, or condescend to, average citizens. They will not quietly or passively be lectured to, or insulted by, the president, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg or any anchor on any network, any columnist in any paper, or any blogger on any Web site.

The people on the Mall and the millions more who watched the gathering with satisfaction rather than fear are quite simply sick of the left, and of its vast sneer toward the traditions, values and, yes, faith of the American middle class.

The American Enterprise Institute’s Arthur Brooks has quite accurately described America as a 70/30 nation, with the 70 percent presently massively underrepresented in the federal government, the Manhattan-Beltway media elite and academia.

The 70 percent is appalled by the placebo economics practiced by the president and the Congress over the past two years, shocked by its profligacy with the wealth of the republic, and sickened by the looting of the next generation’s opportunities.

The 70 percent did not want Obamacare, but it has been thrust upon them.

The 70 percent did not want federal judges to declare “game over” in the complex discussion of what marriage is and means.

The 70 percent want a fence on the border that works, and do not want their concern over unregulated immigration dismissed as nativisim.

The 70 percent are not ashamed of their belief in God, deeply resent being labeled bigots because they view ground zero as land that ought not to be exploited for “messaging” of any sort by any group, and are enraged by the scorn which they encounter everywhere in media except Fox News and talk radio.

The 70 percent believe that the federal government is remote and clueless, and that the Constitution’s principles of enumerated and limited powers and the sovereignty of the states are vibrant, important core values to the republic.

The 70 percent think Iran is in the grip of an evil, theocratic fascism, and that Israel is our true friend and ally deserving of our full-throated support.

We are in the middle of a perilous economic passage to a new competitiveness across the globe. We are watching other countries across the globe respond to the new demands of competitiveness by shrinking the public sector and encouraging private-sector growth. But American education is crippled by bureaucracy and burdened by the inability of a political class to demand reform of the practices and pensions of the public sector. Children have been hostages of this countrywide collapse of common sense for a generation, despite wave after wave of “reform”.

Two years into what had been sold as a new politics and a new approach, the 70 percent are fully aware that they have been conned, suckered, and taken to the cleaners by a hyper-ideological amalgam of leftist public intellectuals, snarling bloggers, career politicians with limited abilities who are often corrupt, and a president wholly inexperienced in the management of complex problems who is in way over his head and prisoner to slogans and schemes that make for great campus debates – but for disaster in the real world.

The people on the Mall were saying much more than “this far and no farther.” They were saying “rewind and restart.” They will hold that thought and that purpose as they peacefully, but with great passion and purpose, insist on real change come Nov. 2.

NO TO THE GROUND ZERO MOSQUE

The Greek siege of Troy had lasted for ten years. The Greeks devised a new ruse – a giant hollow wooden horse. It was built by Epeius and filled with Greek warriors led by Odysseus. The rest of the Greek army appeared to leave whilst actually hiding behind Tenedos and the Trojans accepted the horse as a peace offering. A Greek spy, Sinon, convinced the Trojans the horse was a gift despite the warnings of Laocoon and Cassandra.

Helen and Deiphobus even investigated the horse. The Trojans celebrated the raising of the siege hugely, and when the Greeks emerged from the horse the city was in a drunken stupor. The Greek warriors opened the city gates to allow the rest of the army access and the city was ruthlessly pillaged – all the men were killed and all the women and children taken into slavery.

The creator and purveyor of the new radical Muslim Global Caliphate is the Muslim Brotherhood based out of Medina and Mecca in Saudi. Their Troy is the Western World. Their ‘Trojan Horses” are the Mosques funded by front organizations and Saudi money. It is now what many of us call “Stealth Jihad”. Muslims have been dreaming about a Caliphate that can unite the entire Muslim world and rule with strict Islamic code ever since the death of Muhammed. There have been coups, countercoups and civil wars because of disagreements over whether or not to install the Caliph.

The dream of a caliphate is what is responsible for the “Shia-Sunni split”;http://www.islamfortoday.com/shia.htm. Several Caliphates existed over time until 1924 when Mustafa Kamal Ataturk abolished the Ottoman Caliphate and established the secular Turkish Republic.

Al-Qaeda has clearly stated that the re-establishing the Caliphate is one of its primary objectives. Although Al-Qaeda has taken the violent path to realize their dream of the massive Islamic empire, there are many Islamic groups all across the world that use politics to gain influence; Tanzeem-al-Islami and Hizb ut-Tahrir to name a few.

What exactly is a Caliphate?

A caliphate is the Islamic form of government representing the political unity and leadership of the Muslim world. The head of state (Caliph) has a position based on the notion of a successor to Muhammad’s political authority. It is a dream that has never been realized by Muslims and it will never be. There will always be Muslims who dream about this empire and on the other hand the power-hungry leaders will prevent any movement that could dissolve their nation-state. Therefore, Muslims are stuck in an eternal conflict between Islamists and nationalists.

What are the goals of this Caliphate?

Besides uniting the Muslims, the goal is to arrange a massive army and call for Jihad against infidel states for the expansion of the Caliphate. Various caliphates have used this strategy to expand their states. The rapid Islamic expansion during the reign of the Caliphs is nothing but staggering.

The reason behind that is millions of eager men willingly joining the fight with the Infidels because they believe that Allah will reward them heftily if they die. There has never been a shortage of recruits in the army. This is the same reason there is no shortage of suicide bombers today. The ultimate goal of the Caliphate would be to bring every square inch of this planet under Islam and convert/subdue all remaining Infidels.

Various groups around the world are actively advocating the creation of the Caliphate. The growing support for this empire all over the world is evident. In order to spread Wahhabi. Wahhabi Islam is a term commonly given to a strict Sunni sect of Islam. Followers of Wahhabi Islam do not refer to their religion as “Wahhabi” (Anon., Justifying; Bijlefeld; Hardy).

Many merely call themselves “Muslim,” for according to their beliefs they are only true Muslims. Some Wahhabists refer to themselves and their religion as “al-Muwahhidun,” “Salafi,” “Salafi Da’wa,” or “Ahlul Sunna wall Jama’a” (Anon., Justifying; Bijlefeld; Hardy)

Depending on the region and dialect in use, other names also exist. For the sake of simplicity, I will refer to this religion as “Wahhabi Islam” and its followers as “Wahhabists.” By “Wahhabi Islam”, I am referring to the forms of Islam that share the strict revivalist vision and beliefs that were preached by Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab in the late 1700’s.

Wahhabi Islam counts among its adherents such names as Osama Bin Laden and Saudi Prince Nayef (Cline; Haykel; Smith; Hardy). Various groups such as Al-Qaeda, Pakistan’s Jamaat-I Islami, The Islamic Salvation Front, and al-Jihad have also adopted Wahhabism as their official religion (Ahmed; Cline; Haykel; Smith; Hardy). The extremist religion offers many a theological justification and mandate to kill those they deem to be infidels. One should note that according to Wahhabism, the vast majority of Muslims (over 99%) are also to be considered “infidels, heathens, and enemies” (Haykel; Smith; Lopez).

Wahhabists have made their presence known worldwide. From the beheading of Daniel Pearl in Pakistan to the beheading of countless Russian soldiers in Chechnya, from the beheading of Nick Berg in Iraq to the beheading of Paul Johnson in Saudi Arabia Wahhabists have shown a willingness to use television and the internet to display their gruesome acts of barbarism. To truly understand those that we must fight in this battle against terrorism, one must learn more about Wahhabi Islam and its extremist teachings.

The Origin and History of Wahhabi Islam

Wahhabism started as a movement within Islam founded by Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab (1703-1792). To fully understand the militancy of Wahhabi Islam, it is important that one learns of the warlike nature of Wahhabi Islam’s founder and the brutal times of war in which he lived. Having been born in a small oasis town in central Arabia, al-Wahhab grew up studying Hanbali Law, one of Sunni Islam’s strictest and most conservative schools. He lived and studied with his grandfather until he was in his early teens, at which time he left his home to move to the holy city of Medina, where he continued his Islamic studies.

After completing his studies in Medina several years later and now a young man, al-Wahhab traveled to a city in what is modern day Basra, Iraq. There, he taught Islamic law for approximately four years. Al-Wahhab then traveled to Baghdad where he continued teaching Islamic law. There, he met and later married an affluent woman. She later died and left al-Wahhab a large inheritance, which he used to travel the region. (Ahmed; Anon., Wahhabism; Bijlefeld; Haykel; Hisham; Metz, Kuwait; Metz, Saudi)

The early 1730’s found al-Wahhab residing in Iran. It was here that he first started to preach his new and radical thoughts on Islam. Al-Wahhab virulently attacked the customs and beliefs of the tribes in the region, many of whom were Sufi Muslim. He also extended his criticisms to the practices of the Twelver Shia, such as paying respect at the tombs of holy men. (Ahmed; Anon., Wahhabism; Bijlefeld; Haykel; Hisham; Metz, Kuwait; Metz, Saudi)

With the growing unpopularity of his criticisms against Sufi Islam in Iran, Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab moved back to his native town of Uyaynah in the late 1730’s. Upon his return to his birthplace, al-Wahhab began writing the Kitab at-Tawhid, which would later become the main text of Wahhabi Islam’s doctrines. It was about this time that al-Wahhab begun to gather a larger amount of followers. (Ahmed; Anon., Wahhabism; Bijlefeld; Haykel; Hisham; Metz, Kuwait; Metz, Saudi)

Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab’s extremist views and doctrines led to controversy in Uyaynah. Many of the town’s leaders were not fond of his fundamentalist approach to Islam. After all, merely invoking the name of the Muslim prophet Muhammad was, by al-Wahhab’s standards, a grave sin. In 1744, he was expelled from Uyaynah. Al-Wahhab then settled in Ad-Dir’iyah, which was under the control of a powerful tribal leader named Ibn Sa’ud.

Ibn Sa’ud became a believer of Wahhab’s doctrines and the two formed a strong alliance. Al-Wahhab and Ibn Sa’ud swore a Muslim pledge with each other in which they vowed to establish a new state that would operate under al-Wahhab’s strict interpretation of Islamic Law. And thus began a military campaign that would shake the Arabian Peninsula to its core. The Wahhabi faith provided Ibn Sa’ud with the justification he needed to raid and conquer nearby settlements. Though these settlements were Islamic (and traditional Islamic law prohibits Islamic states from attacking each other), the Wahhabi doctrine viewed all non-Wahhabists as infidels and not true Muslims. It was thus that Ibn Sa’ud found a legitimate purpose to bring the nearby settlements under his control, to spread “true Islam” to the infidels. The Wahhabists are indiscriminate in their killings of Muslims and non-Muslims alike. They soon garnered a reputation as brutal and fanatical warriors. These Wahhabist warriors were described as being so fanatical that they had little regard for their own lives … their sole purpose, it seemed, was to kill the enemy. By the time of his death in 1765, Ibn Sa’ud had managed to gain control over most of the region and had spread Wahhabism to those conquered lands. Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab died in 1792 but the spread of Wahhabism continued under the leadership of Ibn Sa’ud’s son, Abd al Aziz. Abd al Aziz continued the Wahhabi campaign and managed to sack the Shia holy city of Karbala and Sunni towns in Hijaz. The Wahhabists were brutal in their treatment of captured lands and brought destruction upon those who had opposed them. In the early 1800’s, the Wahhabi army even managed to gain control of Mecca and Medina.

Viewing the acts of commemorating dead holy men and praying to saints as unholy acts, the Wahhabists destroyed monuments and gravesites in the holy cities. By doing this, they sought to imitate the Muslim prophet Muhammad’s smashing of pagan symbols when he returned to Mecca in 628. Much of the new recruitment of young radicals in the United States, Europe and the Muslim world is done through the local Mosques and is very well documented. Then the radical Islamic cells are developed to carry out the missions of jihad.

Hopefully, many of you will now understand what is happening and how the Global Caliphate is very well planned out and funded. Let us not be naïve… just look around the world and keep your eyes on Iran and its proxies. The Mosques are the new ‘Trojan Horses”. No 9/11 Mosque!

Faced with the daunting prospect of seemingly endless terrorism, and with staggering global opposition to any of its essential and altogether permissible forms of self-defense, Israel now requires a complex and capable counter-terrorism strategy merely to survive. Simultaneously, the major threats to Israel’s physical survival lie in certain mass-destruction ( biological and/or nuclear) attacks by enemy states. Ultimately, therefore, the Jewish State’s actual continuance rests upon even more than successful counter-terrorism. It rests also upon the inherently fragile and unpredictable foundations of nuclear deterrence.

Israel is tiny. For this beleaguered ministate, U.S. President Barack Obama’s preferred “world free of nuclear weapons” would represent a harsh habitat of utterly radical insecurity. Here, amid a literally dreadful anarchy, Israel’s enemies could now gratefully inflict mortal harms upon the “Zionist Cancer” without plausible fear of unacceptable reprisals. If, moreover, this particular preferred world were also to embrace Mr. Obama’s “Road Map” to an independent Palestinian state, the resultant synergies and (using a productive military concept) force multipliers could further magnify the existential threats to Israel.

Significantly, this does not mean that a still-nuclear Israel would necessary be safe and secure. Nuclear deterrence, after all, depends in part upon enemy rationality. Where this requirement is not met, the nuclear retaliatory threat is immobilized.

Neither Israel nor the United States has been willing to act preemptively against Iran. Why? The answer is that they have chosen instead to rely upon hope.

It is a mistake as old as history. The ancient Greek historian, Thucydides, considering the uncertain fate of Melos during the Peloponnesian War, observed: “Hope is by nature an expensive commodity, and those who are risking their all on one cast, find out what it means only when they are already ruined.”

Soon, Iran will almost certainly become a full nuclear weapons state. Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Obama will then attempt, vainly, to achieve some form of stable deterrence with Tehran. Hoping that a new balance of terror can somehow be premised upon the earlier US-USSR model, Washington and Jerusalem will inevitably discover more-or-less catastrophic failure.

A core of Jerusalem’s nuclear strategy has always been to keep its “bomb” in the basement. After Iranian nuclearization, however, there would be unacceptable risks of continuing with its policy of nuclear ambiguity.

Until now, ambiguity has “worked.” Although it has done little to deter “ordinary” conventional enemy aggressions or certain acts of terror, ambiguity has succeeded in keeping Israel’s enemies from mounting existential aggressions. These particular aggressions could have been mounted without nuclear weapons. There does come a point in any war when mass counts.

Israel’s enemies have always had an obvious advantage in mass. None of Israel’s foes has “the bomb,” but together, collaboratively, and possibly even including non-state proxies, they could still have acquired the capacity to carry out intolerably massive assaults.

Those of us who have studied the issue for years already knew that Islam is ruled by its Sharia dictates, and Quranic edicts that so many apologists choose to ignore Most ignore these doctrinal facts because they one, did not do their due diligence, two, did not read the Quran though they say they did, three, do not understand history, and four, choose to ignore for ulterior motives.

When one does the proper research, performs proper analysis techniques, and looks at not only the macro, but also the micro picture, it cannot be denied. Islam doctrine is practiced by the Jihadists, not the so-called moderates. The so-called moderates are the ones who ignore the teachings, edicts, mandates, and doctrine that Mohammed said were the words of his god, the Moon-God, Allah.

The true Muslims are the ones we in the west call radical. However, it is the ignorance of the masses that promotes that meme. Listen to those interviewed as they describe how they came to their conclusions in government mandated studies. Studies that have been ignored. tax dollars were spent to find out, results they chose to ignore. When John Brennan spoke out on behalf of ‘moderate’ Islam, he could not have proven the point more clearly, that when you remain silent, you may be thought a fool. Open your mouth Mr. Brennan, and remove all doubt.

Hello General Cash,

Thank you for including me in your e-mail [string]. I agree completely and it’s great to see you both [Gens. Cash and Vallely] still active in defending our country. Without specific education in the threat Islam poses to the world, I’ve still been able to see through the smoke screen and understand the seriousness of this threat. The men and women fighting today, as well as all those that paid the ultimate sacrifice, deserve our best efforts as you both well know.

For what it’s worth, here are some of my observations about the growing threat we face here at home. I’m ready and willing to do all I can to help. I’ve already pledged my support to Gen Vallely:

It’s obvious from paying attention to what is going on that Muslims are committed to destroying our country from within. We have been pushed along the “tolerance” path for many years and paved the way for this. I recently made the comment that “tolerance” is a bad word. Instead it should be replaced with “respect”. We respect people who deserve it and absolutely don’t give in to those who don’t. This country was founded with God and Christian beliefs as a core value.

Whether or not you are a church going Christian is beside the point. It’s still the value system this country was founded upon. Being a U.S. citizen should require everyone “respect” this core value and if not, become a citizen of another country.

To allow any and everyone to immigrate into this country regardless of their beliefs and intentions is suicide. We appear to be well on our way to that suicide with the growing Muslim population we “tolerate”. Obama is an obvious Muslim puppet intent on carrying out the plan of the Jihad.

Our country in general has become so complacent, and is so far removed from the last revolution, they don’t see things that are staring them in the face. It’s a slippery slope as stepping in too soon will keep many from seeing the threat we averted; waiting too long will be death to life as we know it.

I cannot believe electing better people now and in 2012 (assuming our country is still in tact), is any sort of solution. The entire government needs to be fired and fired now! Anything short of that will allow the snowball to get so big there won’t be a chance in hell of stopping it.

We have gotten to this point because government has gotten more and more gall as time has gone on. Just because Republicans aren’t as blatant about their self serving policies doesn’t mean we should dutifully select the lesser of two evils. The progressive movement has been patient and has a well thought out plan. You have to give them credit for having patience and tenacity if nothing else. What is to say their plan isn’t counting on us to vote Republicans back into a majority?

Things are going from bad to worse and someone will be blamed for it. The start of 2011 when the Republicans take back some power is about the time we can expect shit to hit the fan. The current government has the most blatant disrespect for the general population that I have ever seen. Letting this continue just adds bullets to the gun we are playing Russian Roulette with.

The economy is obviously being manipulated. There never was a recession because they didn’t let it happen. The longer they manipulate it the harder we are going to fall. We are starting to see signs of that now. Many people and businesses are barely hanging on and when they drop en mass, it’s going to be historic.

Thomas Jefferson foretold that the tree of liberty needs to be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants as you well know. I also read Martin Luther Kings article today that had chilling accuracy for all that is going on today. I pasted the end of that below for a refresher.

To ignore these calls to action written by men of great intelligence and foresight will be one of this countries biggest blunders I feel. We obviously need a cohesive plan that is timed perfectly. When the time comes to recruit patriots and warriors, you both know how to contact me.

Shall we say the odds are too great? Shall we tell them the struggle is too hard? Will our message be that the forces of American life militate against their arrival as full men, and we send our deepest regrets? Or will there be another message, of longing, of hope, of solidarity with their yearnings, of commitment to their cause, whatever the cost? The choice is ours, and though we might prefer it otherwise we must choose in this crucial moment of human history.

Expect to hear a lot about how much the Iraq war cost in the days ahead from Democrats worried about voter wrath against their unprecedented spending excesses.

The meme is simple: The economy is in a shambles because of Bush’s economic policies and his war in Iraq. As American Thinker’s Randall Hoven points out, that’s the message being peddled by lefties as diverse as former Clinton political strategist James Carville, economist Joseph Stiglitz, and The Nation’s Washington editor, Christopher Hayes.

The key point in the mantra is an alleged $3 trillion cost for the war. Well, it was expensive to be sure, in both blood and treasure, but, as Hoven notes, the CBO puts the total cost at $709 billion. To put that figure in the proper context of overall spending since the war began in 2003, Hoven provides this handy CBO chart showing the portion of the annual deficit attributable to the conflict:

But there is much more to be said of this data and Hoven does an admirable job of summarizing the highlights of such an analysis:

• Obama’s stimulus, passed in his first month in office, will cost more than the entire Iraq War—more than $100 billion (15%) more.

• Just the first two years of Obama’s stimulus cost more than the entire cost of the Iraq War under President Bush, or six years of that war.

• Iraq War spending accounted for just 3.2% of all federal spending while it lasted.

• Iraq War spending was not even one quarter of what we spent on Medicare in the same time frame.

• Iraq War spending was not even 15% of the total deficit spending in that time frame. The cumulative deficit, 2003-2010, would have been four-point-something trillion dollars with or without the Iraq War.

• The Iraq War accounts for less than 8% of the federal debt held by the public at the end of 2010 ($9.031 trillion).

• During Bush’s Iraq years, 2003-2008, the federal government spent more on education that it did on the Iraq War. (State and local governments spent about ten times more.)

Just some handy facts to recall during coming weeks as Obama and his congressional Democratic buddies get more desperate to put the blame for their spending policies on Bush and the war in Iraq. For more from Hoven, go here.

It never seems to amaze me how transparent some “journalists” are. Equally, how Ann Coulter has been demonized by the same, yet she is the only one of the two that actually speaks truth. Like her, love her, hate her, her voice is something to be reckoned with.

MSNBC Swears to Allah That Obama’s Not A Muslim

MSNBC’s Monday programming was dedicated to denouncing Sen. Mitch McConnell’s response to a question about whether Obama is a Muslim.

McConnell said: “We all have to rely on the word of (Barack Obama)—something about as reliable as a credit default swap.”

No, I’m sorry, that’s what The Atlantic’s Andrew Sullivan said about whether Trig Palin was really Sarah Palin’s child.

McConnell responded by demanding that Obama be fired—or at least have his security clearance suspended.

No, no – wrong again: That was Sen. John Kerry and Sen. Chuck Schumer, respectively, not taking Karl Rove at his word when he said he had not released Valerie Plame’s name to the press. (It turned out Rove was telling the truth; it was Richard Armitage, and it wasn’t a crime.)

What McConnell actually said in response to the Muslim question was: “The president says he’s a Christian. I take him at his word. I don’t think that’s in dispute.”

Over at MSNBC, that’s Republican code for: “He’s a Muslim!”

North Korean TV’s Ed Schultz hysterically babbled: “McConnell gave cover. That’s what he did. He gave cover to all those low information voters out there who still believe this garbage about President Obama being a Muslim. ... The Republican leadership just loves to feed the fire.”

Chris Matthews was so impressed with Schultz’s nonsensical argument that he spent the entire hour on NKTV’s “Hardball” making the same one: McConnell had expressed insufficient fervor when he said he believed Obama was a Christian! (Perhaps if McConnell had added something about a thrill running up his leg …)

Of course we know the answer is a resounding, NO!

A Christian Nation cannot put up a Christmas scene of the baby Jesus in a public place, but the Muslims can stop normal traffic every Friday afternoon by worshiping in the streets. Something is happening in America that is reminiscent of what is happening in Europe. This is Political Correctness gone crazy!

This is an accurate picture of every Friday afternoon in several locations throughout NYC where there are mosques with a large number of Muslims that cannot fit into the mosque.

They fill the surrounding streets, facing east for a couple of hours between about 2 & 4 p.m.

Besides this one at 42nd St and Madison Ave, there is another, even larger group, at 94th St & 3rd Ave, etc.,etc.

This is in New York City on Madison Avenue, not in France or the Middle East or Yemen or Kenya.

Is there a message here? Yes, there is, and they are claiming America for Allah. If we don’t wake up soon, we are going to “politically correct” ourselves right out of our own faiths, homes, and country!

Those that have studied military history fully realize that great battlefield leaders have been able to change the “Tide of War” or the “Tide of the Battle” to achieve VICTORY. What this means to the layman is that when the battle is going against you, you must change the strategy and tactics of the battle and reverse the tide against the enemy. I have some questions for our civilian and military leadership today regarding a war that is appearing more and more like an empty act that seems to be losing its character and “raison d’etre”.

First the pretense that this war must continue under the current strategy and that we are achieving results when the facts appear each day to refute that. We see more casualties each day and the leadership stands by a self-destructive and self-defeating strategy of “counter-insurgency” (COIN) doctrine and nation-building. Please define for me since January 2002 what the victories are for America in Afghanistan?

In the Fall of 2001, 100 Special Operations Forces and CIA operative using proxies and a solid and well-executed air support campaign defeated the Taliban and Al Qaeda in thirty-four (34) days. Then our leaders went the conventional war path and then to Counter-insurgency and here we are today some nine years later.

The COIN principle is not based on winning; it is based on political whims and is not a true tenet of warfare. Warfare is, and always should be, about WINNING or do not go to War. Winning this specific war against forces impelled by Islamic ideology, the global caliphate, and Sharia calls for unconventional measures and not the conventional actions followed by lengthy occupations such as we have seen in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Such an unconventional war doctrine heavily leverages the core capability to break enemy states, target and destroy the enemy’s capability to bring harm to America. We are now in the longest war America has ever fought in.

Why do US military/political leaders and strategists still languish in a thought process that thinks you can Nation-Build before you defeat the enemy?

Fact: Jihadists with small arms and IEDS in faraway places cannot harm the United States so there is no reason to order massive armies that require large and extensive bases and massive logistical support to fight them on their home turf. But that is the essence of failed “counterinsurgency” (COIN) strategies that have bewitched US military political leaders.

We all want to support our senior military leaders but at some point they have to face the realities of this enemy and protect and secure our American troops. General Petreaus must have the courage and wisdom to change the tide of the war, if he is allowed to! It is time!

Iran supported jihadists; using Iranian improvised explosive devices (IEDS), continue to kill our soldiers, nation-building civilians, CIA operatives, and Afghans at unacceptable rates. We accept this and do nothing about Iran’s involvement. June 2010 was the deadliest month for international troops since the war began:

60 Americans were among 102 international troops slain, according to a count of military figures. This month, more than 70 international troops have died. That total includes more than 50 U.S. service members.

Yes, we have made great and innovative technological advances in weapons systems for the air, sea, and ground, also in communications, in advanced intelligence systems, and command and control systems. Yes, we have operational war planners at all levels of command, senior policy and politicos in the White House and Department of Defense, a National Security Team, and a multitude of military commands positioned around the globe to guide and lead us in national security.

But where are the common sense and rational senior Flag and Command Strategists that we have trained and schooled to be innovative, aggressive, and win our nation’s wars quickly and decisively?

I rarely hear any of them talking about the valued Principles of War that successful combat leaders in the past have used to achieve success and victory. They cannot even talk in terms of victory, winning, and bringing the troops home. Unfortunately, American leaders are increasingly trying to transform this force into one optimized for counterinsurgency missions (when, in fact, we are not, in my opinion, fighting insurgencies but rather, Islamic Jihadists and a fomenting global Caliphate) and conventional war followed on by long-term military occupations. Track back if you will to Korea, Vietnam, and now Iraq, and Afghanistan.

It is true that not all political goals are achievable through the use of military power. However, “victory” in war appears lost in the world of political correctness and appeasement. The conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan – often seen as proving the necessity for COIN-capable forces as well as a commitment to nation-building – demonstrate in reality that the vast majority of goals can be accomplished through quick, decisive, joint strike military operations from selected “Lily Pad”:http://standupamericaus.com/the-lily-pad-or-the-base-afghanistan-conundrum:25308 friendly bases.

Not all political goals are achievable this way, but most are, and those that cannot be achieved through conventional operations likely cannot be achieved by the application of even the most sophisticated counterinsurgency doctrine either. And, as well, to realize and understand in a profound way that you cannot Nation Build in an area of conflict until the enemy is defeated.

Armies were never meant to ‘nation build’. They were meant to swiftly, decisively, and expediently, employ the last bastion of diplomacy, WAR! According to renowned war strategist Carl Von Clausewitz, “War is a continuation of diplomacy by other means.” ‘Nation building’ is a completely different diplomatic tool, for use by diplomats, not warriors. Warriors provide the platform for where diplomats can ‘nation build’; after victory. When you meld both together, you have neither the platform to ‘nation build’ from, nor a clear diplomatic field in which to dictate terms.

After World War II, it was the clear and decisive victories over Japan and Germany, which allowed restoration of governments and economic development. Total victory provided the means and the platform in which government, diplomats and business people could then re-introduce and practice their art to rebuild nations, restore friendships, deal with further enemies with a stronger hand, and restore peace. Today, death and destruction rules the battlefield as diplomats strive to appease. Diplomacy is therefore reduced to a fait accompli, the inability to achieve any lasting peace and goodwill among nations, cultures, and peoples.

I am hard pressed to list any diplomatic and military victories for America in Iraq or Afghanistan since the Fall of 2001. I predict that Iraq will be in worse shape a year from now and that Iran, Syria, and the Iraqi Shiites will exert sufficient influence to control the future of Iraq. Saudi Arabia and the Wahhabis guided by the Muslim Brotherhood will be behind the scenes orchestrating the Caliphate.

Why can we not understand that our military is for national security, defending our country, our southern borders, and domestic jihad before they bring more harm to our citizens? Why can we not understand how important our resources are in terms of our trained Armed Forces and assets of our country and not to drain them across the globe in futile ‘nation building’ operations but to leverage the military to counter threats to our country?

To the Generals and Admirals, reposition our forces for victory and the pride of America.

A fundamental challenge in devising a strategy for the use of future American military power is that the world has literally never seen anything like our capability. The U.S. today has military capabilities at least equal to the rest of the world combined. There is virtually no spot on the globe that could not be targeted by American forces, and at most, a small handful of countries that could at worst, delay a determined U.S. effort.

As a consequence, the U.S. must adopt a national military strategy that heavily leverages the core capability to break enemy states, then target and destroy the enemy’s capability to bring harm to America. Such a strategy could defeat and disrupt most potential threats the U.S. faces.

While America’s adversaries today may prefer to engage the U.S. using proxies and develop radical Islamist organizations and jihadists, there is no rationale in declaring to the people of the United States that we are in a long war and accept that as a reason to not achieve a quick and decisive victory.

Let them wail and whimper as we achieve the success that is necessary; wiping out and neutralizing radical Islamism and the nation states that support it. Because our capability is so novel, American strategists lack a clear framework to guide the utilization of this force. They have sought to match capabilities to conceptions of the use of force from a different era, one in which the Cold War made regime change unpalatable due to the risk of escalation and that tended to make localized setbacks appear as loses in a perceived zero-sum competition with the Soviets.

Like Reagan, it is time to call their bluff. They know we hold the big cards, so why are we so timid? This only fosters eastern thought that placation is a sign of weakness. A weakness they will turn into an asset and a political card to play to the uneducated masses they control. Based on superb intelligence, we can launch required strike operations from any number of secure global sites and bases. True, these radical Islamic forces pose a major terror threat abroad and at home but we can defeat those efforts as well.

Because of the political naiveté, the complete misunderstanding of Islam and its teachings of control, and the liberal idea that westerners can talk to easterners in terms based on western thoughts and values, our current leadership is effectively neutering our military. It clearly does not understand Islamism, and its global intentions, so it constantly employs methods that are nothing but signs of weakness to these people. This just emboldens nations and groups such as Iran, Syria, al Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah, and a myriad of other groups wishing to fulfill Islamic global Sharia goals.

The Middle East will never see peace as we continually try the same things over and over, failing each time, and thinking there will be a different outcome each time. Clearly, the lessons of takiya (lying to infidels) have not been learned, and that clearly hampers the policy makers in charge of national security.

Remember, if you are not Muslim, you live in the land of Dar el Harb, the land of war. Nation building in Afghanistan and elsewhere will never work, when you are trying to sway the hearts and minds of peoples who have long ago determined you are their enemy forever, and nothing you say is to be believed. Many describe our efforts as helping to recruit more fighters and more ideologues. This is no way to stop all the threats to our homeland. The only true way to stop the threat is to give them what they respect; pure force of arms and will. Otherwise, they sit in their sanctuaries and count up the moral victories they have achieved, and embolden future efforts. However, significant threats to the U.S., ranging from the military capacity of regional powers, to weapons of mass destruction development programs, to significant terrorist infrastructures, can be targeted and destroyed by conventional and unconventional military capabilities.

Again, we must stop thinking like westerners, and understand the way our enemy thinks. A ‘lily pad’ approach is much more preferable because it gives the enemy no moral high ground to propagandize, but at the same time instills sheer terror in their hearts as they must guess at what is coming next. Force of will and resolve is required by our leaders that our enemies indeed respect and understand that. Only when we understand that one objective of Global Jihad is imposition – by force or by stealth – of Shari’a (Islamic law) and the other is the re-establishment of the Caliphate/Imamate can we even begin to formulate the enemy threat doctrine and strategic concept to DEFEAT THE ENEMY and WIN the GWOJ (Global War on Jihad).

Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal presents 9/11 relief check to New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani

The Saudi prince whose post-9/11 relief check was rejected by former New York Mayor Rudy Guiliani has found a more willing recipient in the city for his millions: the head of the Ground Zero mosque project.

The same Saudi potentate, Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, owns the biggest chunk of the parent company of the Fox News Channel outside of the Murdoch family. Former Bush advisers have similar ties to the prince and the proposed mega-mosque in Manhattan, which may explain why they’ve asked Republicans to soften their opposition to it.

WND has learned that one of the original board members of the nonprofit group promoting the 13-story mosque and “cultural center” took the job as a favor to James A. Baker III, the former President George H.W. Bush official and lawyer who defended Saudi government officials against a lawsuit filed by families of 9/11 victims. Baker has counted bin Talal as a client.

Bin Talal has pumped more than $300,000 into the project headed by New York imam Feisal Abdul Rauf as part of the prince’s campaign to “improve the image of Islam in the American public.” The prince’s charitable foundation in 2008 gave $125,000 to Rauf, which came on the heels of an earlier $180,000 gift, according to the Arab press.

The foundation is run by Muna AbuSulayman, a Saudi woman who appears on Rauf’s website as one of its Muslim Leaders of Tomorrow.

Additionally, the prince funded through a generous grant the reprinting of Rauf’s 2004 book, originally titled “A Call to Prayer from the World Trade Center Rubble: Islamic Dawa in the Heart of America Post-9/11.”

The amount of the grant is undisclosed. Attempts to reach bin Talal’s Saudi-based foundation were unsuccessful.

Guiliani refused to accept bin Talal’s $10 million donation after bin Talal blamed U.S. policy in the Middle East for the 9/11 attacks and suggested the U.S. take a position more favorable to the “Palestinian cause.”

Critics called his offer “blood money” and praised Guiliani for rebuffing it. After Giuliani’s snub, bin Talal took a more indirect strategy to influence American policy.

In a 2002 interview in the Arab press, bin Talal intimated that “Arabs should focus more on penetrating U.S. public opinion as a means to influencing decision-making” on the war on terror and U.S. foreign policy.

Bin Talal proceeded to give more than $500,000 to the Council on American-Islamic Relations in Washington. The prince currently is helping CAIR finance a $50 million campaign to fight “Islamophobia” in America. According to a sensitive State Department cable, top CAIR officials in 2006 traveled to Saudi Arabia to solicit bin Talal and other wealthy Saudis for campaign funds.

“We are planning to meet Prince Alwaleed bin Talal for his financial support to our project,” CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad told the Arab press at the time. “He has been generous in the past.”

In addition, the Saudi-based Organization of the Islamic Conference has kicked in more than $300,000 for CAIR’s propaganda effort, according to the book “Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld That’s Conspiring to Islamize America,” which exposes CAIR and other fronts for the radical Muslim Brotherhood in America. CAIR last week held a press conference at the National Press Club to support the construction of the mosque near Ground Zero. It also denounced critics as “Islamophobes.” CAIR occupies a suite next door to Rauf’s Manhattan offices, and Rauf has honored CAIR’s New York chapter spokesperson as one of his “Muslim Leaders of Tomorrow.”

That is the real question at hand in the Ground Zero mosque debate.

The real battle for religious freedom lurks beneath the Ground Zero mosque controversy. It is sadly ironic that our public debate presents the mosque proponents as the partisans of liberty: That includes everyone from imam Feisal Rauf, the project’s sharia-touting sponsor, to President Obama, Mayor Bloomberg, and the rest of the Islamist-smitten Left, to the GOP’s own anti-anti-terrorist wing?. Yet, wittingly or not, when they champion this mosque and its sponsors, it is the agenda of an alien and authoritarian Islam that they champion – an Islam against which many American Muslims chafe.

When it comes to liberty, no one in this society has been given a wider berth than the Islamists, the purveyors of this authoritarian Islam, which is the mainstream Islam of the Middle East. Their vise grip on the American Muslim community has been cinched for two decades by the government, the media, and the academy. For our post-American ruling class, “Islamic outreach” means prostituting themselves for Saudi largesse; it means putting the “moderate” label on the Muslim Brotherhood — the Saudi-backed saboteurs whose American operatives boldly promise to “eliminate and destroy Western Civilization from within.”

The victims of this lethal charade include American Muslims. They, too, crave religious liberty and Western enlightenment. Our elites abandon them to the sharia-mongers. That freedom destroyers have been allowed to pose as freedom defenders ought to tell mosque opponents something: We have done a poor job of explaining the stakes.

In 1993, I headed up a prosecution team that was preparing to try the “Blind Sheikh” Omar Abdel Rahman and eleven other jihadists for conducting a terrorist war against the United States. The case revealed this country’s Muslim divide.

On one side were patriotic American Muslims, without whom successful prosecution would have been impossible. Not only did they infiltrate the terror cells, they helped us shape the resulting evidence into a compelling narrative. On the other side were the Muslim Brotherhood’s satellites. These included outfits like CAIR (the Council on American-Islamic Relations), which was formed in 1994 by the Brotherhood’s Hamas-support wing, with seed money from an Islamic “charity” – the Holy Land Foundation – later shut down for financing foreign terrorist organizations. These Brotherhood satellites purport to speak for American Muslims. In fact, they speak for anti-American Muslims, most of whom are outside the United States. They demagogued the case as a phobic criminalization of Islam itself, just as they have libeled America since 9/11 as being “at war with Islam.”

To all Michael Behenna supporters,

With the Freedom Ride for the Leavenworth 10 almost here I wanted to give all of Michael’s supporters an update on his appeal. Seven long months after Michael’s lawyers filed his brief with the appellate court the government finally filed its response brief on July 20, 2010. As a government lawyer myself I have to say that I am very disappointed in the government’s brief.

In my 22 years as a federal prosecutor I have never seen a government lawyer misrepresent facts to an appellate court as was done in this brief. I understand that a lawyer must advocate their position, but as a young lawyer in the Department of Justice I was taught that my primary goal was to seek justice. Justice requires that a prosecutor act fairly, ethically and in all things uphold the constitution which we are sworn to defend.

Unfortunately, the principals of justice and professional ethics have been completely disregarded by the military lawyers in Michael’s case. They seemingly created facts to fit their arguments rather than argue the case on its merits. Michael’s lawyer Jack Zimmerman needed no less than 18 pages in his reply brief to correct the countless misrepresentations of fact repeatedly made by the government. It is a sad day for the military justice system for the government attorneys to be so disingenuous in their arguments.

That being what it is the next step in the appeals process is for oral arguments to be made before the Army Court of Appeals. Once this is done then we wait for their decision which we pray will come before Christmas. We firmly believe that the truth will literally set Michael free when the appellate court applies the rule of law and reverses his conviction.

One truth that Michael has learned from this unimaginable experience is that events don’t define a person; rather it is a person’s reaction to those events that defines them. We have seen our son at his best throughout this travesty of justice. He does not wallow in anger or bitterness and is using his time in prison to help those around him and to gain a deeper wisdom beyond his years. To paraphrase a few lines from the poem Invictus, ‘In the fell clutch of circumstance he has not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance his head is bloody, but unbowed.’ Michael is a rock and no amount of injustice will break his unconquerable spirit.

We hope to see many of you at the Leavenworth 10 Freedom Ride and Rally at Leavenworth, Kansas on September 4, 2010. Iran unveiled a long-range unmanned bomber on Sunday in a bid to boost its defensive capabilities.

On a stage in front of military officials, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad pulled a sheet away from the aircraft, called the Karrar, which is Iran’s first long-range drone.

The presentation of the drone came a day after Iranian and Russian technicians began fuelling Iran’s first nuclear power station.

In a speech at the unveiling ceremony, Ahmadinejad said Iran should seek the ability to make pre-emptive strikes against a perceived threat, although he said it would never strike first.

“If there is an ignorant person or an egoist or a tyrant who just wanted to make an aggression then our Defense Ministry should reach a point where it could cut off the hand of the aggressor before it decided to make an aggression,” he said.

“We should reach a point when Iran would serve as a Defense umbrella for all freedom loving nations in the face of world aggressors. We don’t want to attack anywhere, Iran will never decide to attack anywhere, but our revolution cannot sit idle in the face of tyranny, we can’t remain indifferent,” he added.

Iran has warned that any strike against its nuclear sites would be countered by measures not restricted to the Middle East region. Ahmadinejad said on Saturday an attack on Iran would be “suicidal.”

Al Manar

One day after the activation of the nuclear reactor in Bushehr, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad unveiled another new achievement: a long-range drone, dubbed Karar, which reportedly can bomb targets at high speed.

The unveiling of the aircraft comes as Iran marks on Sunday its annual Defense Industries Day. Television footage showed the president applauding as a blue cloth which had been covering the drone was pulled back to reveal a short aircraft painted in military-green with the words “Bomber jet” written on its side.

Images were then broadcast on television showing the aircraft flying. Ahmadinejad made a speech at the ceremony, held in a hall of Tehran’s Malek Ashtar University, but did not mention the drone.

State television’s website reported that the drone has “different capabilities, including carrying bombs to destroy targets.” It said the plane can fly for a “long range at high speed.”

The website cited Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi as saying that the Karar is a “symbol of the versatility and advancement of Iran’s defense industries.”

The unveiling of Karar, the nickname of Imam Ali, the first Muslim Shiite imam, comes two days after Iran test fired a domestically built surface-to-surface missile, Qiam (Rising).

Over the next few days Iran is expected to make series of further military announcements as the nation marks the annual government week, a period used by Tehran to tout its achievements.

In this period Iran is also expected to test fire a third generation Fateh 110 (Conqueror) missile. Iran has previously paraded a version of Fateh 110 which has a travel range of 150 to 200 kilometers (90 to 125 miles).

Also during government week, the production lines of two missile-carrying speedboats, Seraj (Lamp) and Zolfaqar (named after Imam Ali’s sword) are due to be inaugurated.

The unveiling of Karar comes days after Iran took delivery of four new mini-submarines of the home-produced Ghadir class. Weighing 120 tons, the “stealth” submarines are aimed at operations in shallow waters, notably in the Gulf.

Iran’s archfoes the United States and Israel have not ruled out a military strike against Tehran to stop its uranium enrichment program.

EXPERTS SAY IRAN NOT SO CLOSE TO BOMB

Meanwhile, Israeli media on Sunday reported that experts believe that the historic activation of the Iranian nuclear reactor in Bushehr on Saturday was indeed an important move forward in the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program and theoretically the facility could be helpful in Tehran’s efforts to attain a nuclear weapon; however it will not be able to do so.

The move evoked a protest and expression of concern on Israel’s part, but according to the experts, the Iranians would find it difficult to deceive the Russian inspectors and use the facility’s nuclear waste to create a bomb, according to Israeli media reports.

The facility’s activation was a historic movement, in which Iran joined the list of countries in possession of a nuclear power station. The reactor was inaugurated after decades of construction and preparations, with the nuclear fuel loaded under the supervision of technicians from Russia, which has helped Iran build the facility since the 1990s.

Nonetheless, it will take several months before the reactor starts producing electricity. The Russians are expected to continue examining the site in the future as well, while making certain that Iran will not use the nuclear waste to create an atom bomb.

If al-Qaida looks and sounds different as we approach 9/11’s ninth anniversary, it’s because it’s under new American management. No fewer than four U.S. citizens and a permanent U.S. resident have risen to senior leadership posts.

These five English-speaking leaders are actively planning or facilitating attacks against their countrymen, while recruiting and radicalizing other American turncoats to carry them out.

By remaking itself into an American enterprise, al-Qaida is now more lethal than ever. Its new generation of leaders understands the way America works, having lived here for decades. They have a better sense of our security blind spots. They also know which kinds of attacks will produce both mass panic and maximum economic damage.

Al-Qaida’s indigenous rebirth, moreover, befogs our military strategy. We’re no longer at war with just a foreign enemy, but fellow Americans recruited by the enemy. They’re supplied, in turn, by a seemingly endless stream of homegrown foot soldiers, fed by a native Muslim population once believed quiescent and nonthreatening. Shockingly, the War on Terror has morphed into a mini-civil war, and it’s posing major new challenges to its prosecution. We’re now battling our own citizens. How do we deal with wartime traitors? Can the CIA assassinate them? Can it spy on them? What about their civil rights?

This muddies an already muddy war ‹ and it’s all part of al-Qaida’s plan. After 9/11, the group vowed to convert our own people against us, something once thought impossible. But it’s managed to groom a startling number of American citizens and residents and install them in top leadership slots, including:

Adnan Shukrijumah:

The long-time Florida resident, who obtained a green card while living in the U.S. for more than 15 years, has replaced 9/11 planner Khalid Sheikh Mohammad as chief of al-Qaida’s terror operations.

Believed to be directing U.S. terrorist cells from Pakistan, Shukrijumah, 35, recently was indicted as a conspirator in last year’s plot to blow up the New York subway.

There’s a $5 million reward for his capture.

Adam Gadahn:

The California-born Muslim convert assists Shukrijumah and Osama bin Laden as al-Qaida’s chief propagandist. He tailors the group’s message to American Muslims, as well as disaffected minorities ripe for conversion.

In 2006, Gadahn invoked U.S. Muslims to attack military bases, singling out California’s Camp Pendleton as a candidate for “a shooting spree.” Three years later, a Muslim soldier went on a shooting spree at Fort Hood. Gadahn, 31, praised the attack and urged more.

The first American to be charged with treason in 50 years, Gadahn is hiding in Pakistan with a $1 million bounty on his head.

Anwar Awlaki:

Articulate and media savvy, the American-born cleric is al-Qaida’s top recruiter of Western suicide cells.

Awlaki has recruited or radicalized countless homegrown terrorists, including the Fort Hood shooter and the Times Square bomber, both English-speaking citizens. Authorities also believe he ordered the Christmas airliner attack, which puts Awlaki in the middle of the last three major terror acts on U.S. soil.

Thought to be bin Laden’s heir, Awlaki has called on American Muslims to turn against their government, and has even justified killing American civilians. “Jihad against America is binding on every other (American) Muslim,” he said.

The 39-year-old Awlaki lived in the U.S. for 21 years before fleeing to Yemen after 9/11. Treasury last month designated him a “key leader of al-Qaida” and froze his assets. He’s also on the CIA’s terrorist hit list.

Samir Khan:

A U.S. citizen who grew up in New York and Charlotte, N.C., the Web-savvy 24-year-old is now in Yemen helping Awlaki target American audiences as al-Qaida’s newest propagandist.

Khan is editor of al-Qaida’s splashy new organ, “Inspire,” a Webzine that provides jihadists step-by-step instructions in English on making bombs that can elude bomb-sniffing dogs.

Omar Hammami:

The ex-Baptist convert to Islam grew up in the Alabama suburbs before joining al-Qaida.

He’s now, at 25, a field commander in Somalia, another key al-Qaida hot spot, where he’s recruiting and training U.S. jihadists. His trainees include dozens of Minneapolis college kids, including one who earned the dubious title, “first American suicide bomber.”

This new cadre of al-Qaida leaders is enlisting a growing faction of the U.S. Muslim community, many of them African-American and white converts who don’t fit the Arab terrorist profile. As many as three dozen U.S. converts are said to have gone through al-Qaida training in Yemen, where they’ve received Awlaki’s blessing. They reportedly include blond-haired, blue-eyed types fitting a profile of Americans that al-Qaida in the past could only dream of recruiting.

Its recruiting effort is made all the easier by some 15,000 jihadi Web sites ‹ 80% of which are operating off servers based inside the U.S. Across the country, moreover, mosques and Islamic bookstores sell Awlaki’s recorded sermons as CD box sets. It’s all protected “free speech.”

“Jihad is becoming as American as apple pie,” Awlaki boasts. More and more, he warns, terror attacks will come “from within” even within our own military. Meanwhile, the so-called moderates of the Muslim establishment are sitting on their hands. Major Muslim groups have refused to cooperate in terror probes until the FBI backs off mosques. Their cold war turned hot last fall, when a Muslim leader in Detroit died in a shoot-out with agents, triggering outcry throughout the Muslim community.

It’s just a matter of time before a homegrown nut inspired by a radical mosque or Web site overcomes their bomb-making learning curve and successfully detonates one, blowing up a building or a mall or a plane inside America. And then we’ll all wonder why more wasn’t done to shut down these sites. Of course, by then we’ll be sweeping up the remains of victims, and it will be too late.

“America cannot and will not win,” Awlaki hisses. With Washington running from the war, disengaging from an enemy that now counts our own citizens among its senior ranks, we cannot afford to dismiss his words as bluster.

Iran’s entry into the Nuclear Club is now pretty much a foregone conclusion. This once-preventable development will be the direct result of persistently false hopes in Washington and Jerusalem. For both Israel and Iran, therefore, the poet’s “waste land” has already become plausible.

Would a newly-nuclear leadership in Tehran be fully rational? What will happen to Israel if Iranian leaders, endowed with nuclear weapons, begin to value certain presumed religious obligations even more highly than their state’s survival?

This is not a disingenuous question. Many of Iran’s current leaders, including President Ahmadinejad himself, subscribe faithfully to the explosive narrative of a Shi’ite apocalypse.

Significantly, whether rational or irrational, any Iranian leadership that slouches toward inevitable conflict with the “Zionist Entity,” could, possibly in less than three years, unleash nuclear war. Deliberately or inadvertently, as a “bolt from the blue,” or as a fully unintended result of escalation, whether out of an inexorable religious commitment to Jihad against “unbelievers,” or for much more mundane reasons of miscalculation, accident, coup d’état, or command-control failure, a nuclear Tehran could ignite Armageddon.

I recently received an email with an essay supposedly written by a person named Doctor Emmanuel Tanay. It is uncertain if he actually exists, or that if he does, that he penned this short essay.

However, it matters not who wrote it. The reason is apparent when you read the essay, as it is certainly accurate in its assertions, and is spot on in its message. This essay has been floating around the internet for a long time but it is certainly worth another read.

One of the people at Slantright.com said the following:

“This is by far the best explanation of the Muslim terrorist situation I have ever read. His references to past history are accurate and clear. Not long, easy to understand, and well worth the read. The author of this email is said to be Dr. Emanuel Tanay, a well known and well respected psychiatrist.”

A Holocaust Survivor’s View on Islam

A man, whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War II, owned a number of large industries and estates. When asked how many German people were true Nazis, the answer he gave can guide our attitude toward fanaticism. ‘Very few people were true Nazis,’ he said, ‘but many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many more were too busy to care. I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools. So, the majority just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned us, and we had lost control, and the end of the world had come. My family lost everything. I ended up in a concentration camp and the Allies destroyed my factories.’

We are told again and again by ‘experts’ and ‘talking heads’ that Islam is the religion of peace and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace. Although this unqualified assertion may be true, it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the specter of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam.

The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history.

- It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting wars worldwide.

- It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave.

- It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honor-kill.

- It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque.

- It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals.

- It is the fanatics who teach their young to kill and to become suicide bombers.

The hard, quantifiable fact is that the peaceful majority, the ‘silent majority,’ is cowed and extraneous.

Communist Russia was comprised of Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of about 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant. China’s huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people.

The average Japanese individual prior to World War II was not a warmongering sadist. Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across South East Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians; most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet.

And who can forget Rwanda , which collapsed into butchery. Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were ‘peace loving’?

History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason, we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points:

Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence.

Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don’t speak up, because like my friend from Germany , they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics own them, and the end of their world will have begun.

Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Serbs, Afghans, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late. As for us who watch it all unfold, we must pay attention to the only group that counts — the fanatics who threaten our way of life.

Lastly, anyone who doubts that the issue is serious and just deletes this email without sending it on is contributing to the passiveness that allows the problems to expand. So, extend yourself a bit and send this on and on and on! Let us hope that thousands, world-wide, read this and think about it, and send it on – before it’s too late.

A growing number of New York construction workers are vowing not to work on the mosque planned near Ground Zero.

“It’s a very touchy thing because they want to do this on sacred ground,” said Dave Kaiser, 38, a blaster who is working to rebuild the World Trade Center site.

“I wouldn’t work there, especially after I found out about what the imam said about U.S. policy being responsible for 9/11,” Kaiser said.

The grass-roots movement is gaining momentum on the Internet. One construction worker created the “Hard Hat Pledge” on his blog and asked others to vow not to work on the project if it stays on Park Place.

“Thousands of people are signing up from all over the country,” said creator Andy Sullivan, a construction worker from Brooklyn. “People who sell glass, steel, lumber, insurance. They are all refusing to do work if they build there.”

“Hopefully, this will be a tool to get them to move it,” he said. “I got a problem with this ostentatious building looming over Ground Zero.”

A planned 13-story community center and mosque two blocks from Ground Zero, Park 51 has exploded into a national debate.

Louis Coletti, president of the Building Trades Employers’ Association, said unions have not yet taken a “formal position” on Park 51, but he understands why members would be hesitant to work there.

“It’s a very difficult dilemma for the contractors and the organized labor force because we are experiencing such high levels of unemployment,” he said. “Yet at the same time, this is a very sacred sight to the union guys.”

“There were construction workers killed on 9/11 and many more who got horribly sick cleaning up Ground Zero,” Coletti said. “It’s very emotional.”

L.V. Spina, a Manhattan construction worker who created anti-mosque stickers that some workers are slapping on their hardhats, said he would “rather pick cans and bottles out of trash cans” than build the Islamic center near Ground Zero.

“But if they moved it somewhere else, we would put up a prime building for these people,” he said. “Hell, you could do it next to my house in Rockaway Beach; I would be fine with it. But I’m not fine with it where blood has been spilled.”

Spina, who sells 9/11 apparel on his website, said he’s printed thousands of stickers and plans to produce thousands more.

“They’re going all over the country,” he said. “They got pretty popular fast.” Popularity aside, there are some construction workers choosing not to set themselves against the project “Hundreds of guys here are wearing stickers as a sign of protest, but I’m on the fence about it,” said Frank Langan, 50, a site superintendent from Queens working at Ground Zero.

“It’s a tough debate,” he said. “I sympathize with workers ‘position, but at the same time, you can’t single out all Muslims because of a small number of terrorists.”

In Damascus, Syrian prime minister Naji al-Otari gathered his ministers and heads of security and emergency services Thursday and ordered them to place all their services on immediate war readiness.

And sources close to the Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas quoted him as saying that direct talks with Israel were not in the offing because “a big military surprise awaits the Middle East.”

On Thursday, too, Tehran pitched its threat level high by warning that any attack on Iran’s nuclear sites would be met by the IRGC “targeting the interests of the enemies in any part of the world.”

Iranian Bases

Some Iranian sources have suggested that Israel’s obsessive preoccupation with the Galant scandal (over a forged document designed to influence the choice of the next Israeli chief of staff) is a smokescreen for masking preparations for an imminent attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

In the United States, respected commentators this week talked and wrote openly about a possible war over Iran’s progress toward a nuclear bomb capability. Former US ambassador to Israel, Martin Indyk, who has excellent connections in Washington and Jerusalem, wrote: “The United States is more likely than Israel to launch an attack on Iran.”

Lawrence Eagleburger, former US Secretary of State, had this to say about the activation of Iran’s first reactor at Bushehr Saturday, Aug. 21: “The world’s going to war over this. If Iran gets the weapon it’s going to use it.”

He urged an attack on Iran before it obtained a bomb.

Some other US experts suggest the world powers would wait longer than 11 months before weighing an attack, whereas informed American sources are talking for the first time in 14 months about a possible US-led multilateral Western attack on Iran which, according to DEBKAfile’s military sources, would be in conjunction with Germany, Britain and France.

In the first week of June, 2009, those sources note, US, UK and French forces carried out a joint exercise at the French Canjuers training facility near Toulon, simulating a marine attack with close air support on Iranian ground targets British planes took off for the exercise from airbases in the UK, while US warplanes flew in from the USS Harry S. Truman and French jets from their carrier, the Charles de Gaulle. It was their first display of strength, in which the German frigate FGS Hessen also took part, for a combined air-sea-ground war offensive.

The Truman and the Hessen are currently stationed in the Gulf of Oman opposite the strategic Straits of Hormuz.

In an apparent bid to calm the rising war fever in America, the New York Times Friday reported that the Washington has assured Israel that an Iranian threat was not imminent but had been delayed for a year by problems in enriching uranium and divisions within the regime over how far to push their nuclear program But the NYT added suspicions in Israel that the enrichment problems may be a pretext to conceal a secret enrichment site yet to be discovered in tunnels being dug across the country, including some near Natanz.

Tehran may then take everyone by surprise and jump up with a nuclear bomb – in the same way as it caught the world napping with a banned uranium enrichment industry turning out fuel for a bomb unhindered.

Simon Henderson, an eminent American expert on Iran, published an article Thursday on the imminent inauguration of the Bushehr reactor in which he stressed that the fuel rods it uses could produce enough plutonium-rich residue for building at least one nuclear bomb a year.

The plant will moreover provide cover for training an entire generation of Iranian nuclear scientists and technicians for its weapons industry. After all, the regime’s nuclear and missile programs involved “evasion” and “an array of deceptive practices.”

Yet not a word was heard in Israel – either from official sources or by media commentators – in advance of the ceremony inaugurating the Russian-built Bushehr reactor Saturday. All their efforts were bent on untangling the Galant affair and coping with its fallout. No wonder Iran, Syria, Hizballah and the Palestinians refused to believe this obsession could be so all-consuming and treated it as a red herring for deceiving them.

Yesterday, we reported on Hezbollah tunnels, and Nasrallah’s fear that the Harriri assassination investigation will indicate Hezbollah was involved. We also learned from trusted sources yesterday afternoon that IDF tanks have been positioning in the north, troops had been called up last week, and shelters are being hastily installed underground in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv as well as other major population centers in Israel.

Iran test fires new surface-to-surface missile

Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said on Friday that Iran has successfully test-fired a new surface-to-surface missile called Qiam 1 (Rising).

Vahidi, who was speaking during Friday prayers in Tehran, said the missile was of a “new class” and has new technical aspects and a unique tactical capacity.

“Since the surface-to-surface missile has no wings, it has lot of tactical power, which also reduces the chances of it being intercepted,” he said.

He also explained that the missile is equipped with a smart navigation system.

“The missile can hit targets with high precision,” the general noted.

However Vahidi did not say when or where the test was carried out.

Iran, and the Straits of Hormuz

Tehran’s propaganda machine has taken a leaf out of Bush 43’s lexicon – “bring ‘em on.” The Pasdaran, or Revolutionary Guards, trotted out their latest acquisition – the 51-foot “Bladerunner,” the world’s “fastest warship,” capable of 82 mph.

The Iran Times, published in Washington in both English and Farsi, reported only two such “high-tech” speedboats had been built and that Iran was now planning to mass-produce them. The one acquired by Iran was purchased in South Africa and loaded onto a container ship. The Financial Times said the United States was prepared to board it but the operation was called off without explanation. One Bladerunner was used to set a record for circumnavigating the British Isles in 2005, when it averaged 61.5 mph over 27 hours.

For the past 20 years, Iran’s seagoing Republican Guards have been accumulating small, swift boats with a view to swarming U.S. warships going in and out of the Hormuz Strait, and to mining the narrow waterway used by supertankers that move 40 percent of all seaborne traded oil (which is 20 percent of all oil traded worldwide). Moving through the mile-wide exit channel is also three-quarters of all of Japan’s oil needs.

Allegiance, loyalty or the obligation of loyalty, as to a nation, sovereign, or cause. There it is, a question of loyalty. Our founding fathers recognized that loyalty to the nation was the foundation to the preservation of the American Experiment.

The American experiment was unique and improbable in 1776, when Thomas Jefferson penned the Declaration of Independence and the American colonies defied Britain, the most powerful nation on earth at the time. As we look around the world at how difficult it is for democracy and freedom to take hold and flourish, America seems like a political miracle.

It is a miracle, but it appears to be a waning miracle. The lack of allegiance to this miracle is the prime reason it is waning. Where is the loyalty? Our politicians in large measure seem to have lost that allegiance to the American Experiment. Today, they are loyal first to party, then to ideology, then to power and money, then to personal success, but hardly present is loyalty to our ‘miracle’, our Constitution. Worse, they may be loyal to foreign or non-American influence.

Many today question, repeatedly, the eligibility of Mr. Obama to hold the Office of President of the United States. So-called main stream thinking considers it a non-starter, a politically motivated slander, even many Republicans choose to look the other way. But there is a reason to question any Oval Office resident: loyalty and allegiance! What influences this person in their deliberations, decisions, and demeanor? Is it ideologically opposed to the American Experiment, the ‘miracle’? Is there a higher loyalty this person may hold than to the Constitution and the ‘miracle’?

Are there Foreign or Non-American Influence Issues?

The Federalist Papers (Oct 1787-May 1788) are 85 essays written by Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, and James Madison. Professor Yinger explained that the main focus of essays 2-5, written by Jay, and titled “Concerning Dangers from Foreign Force and Influence” is on:

...the need for a strong central government to protect a nation from foreign military action, they also suggest that a strong central government can help protect a nation from “foreign influence.” Concern about foreign influence also appears in essay number 20, written by Hamilton and Madison; essay number 43 by Madison; and essays number 66 and 75 by Hamilton. Moreover, the role of the presidential selection mechanism in limiting foreign influence is explicitly discussed by Hamilton in essay number 68.

P.A. Madison [in his blog The Federalist] concludes that that there is no:

“better way to insure attachment to the country then to require the President to have inherited his American citizenship through his American father and not through a foreign father.” This is because, “Any child can be born anywhere in the country and removed by their father to be raised in his native country. The risks would be for the child to return in later life to reside in this country bringing with him foreign influences and intrigues.”

So we ask the question of loyalty and allegiance again.

To whom are you beholding as an individual, as a citizen, as a natural born citizen? is your allegiance first-and-foremost to the USA and the Constitution, or do you have ulterior motives and designs based upon some belief system anathema to the USA and the Constitution? If you are a Communist, it certainly runs afoul of the Constitution, or if you are a Socialist, or a one-world-order person you run afoul as well. What if you are a Muslim?

In the Presidential race of 1960, Presidential candidate John F. Kennedy had to answer the question because he was Catholic. In Catholicism, a true Catholic is beholding to a Pope. What about Mitt Romney who was challenged about his Mormon faith? Now it appears that a large portion of America believes Obama is a Muslim, still.

A Pew research Poll indicated that: “Fully 18 percent of respondents to the Pew survey picked “Muslim” when asked Obama’s religion, up from 11 percent who answered that way in March 2009.”

Let’s look closer to what it means. Mr. Obama has still yet to choose a church to ally with in Washington D.C. He overlooked the “National Day of Prayer” but spoke at a Ramadan celebration on August 13th. Not only did he speak there, he supported the Mosque at Ground Zero, for which he had to back track in the subsequent days. These are only a few examples that perk people’s curiosity, especially those who KNOW Islam better than Muslims themselves.

People like Robert Spencer, Pam Geller, and many others share the understanding that a true Muslim submits completely to Allah. Complete in all manners of life. Unlike other ‘religions’ Islam demands total submission, and total control of the planet with Shariah Law as the only law. So if Obama is indeed a Muslim hiding his identity, the question arises again: allegiance and loyalty to whom?

As Mr. Reagan stated at Yorktown in 1981, “Our Declaration of Independence has been copied by emerging nations around the globe, its themes adopted in places many of us have never heard of. Here in this land, for the first time, it was decided that man is born with certain God-given rights. We the people declared that the government is created by the people for their own convenience.”

While it is a crime to impersonate a law enforcement officer, it is no longer a crime to impersonate a U.S. military hero. We have just witnessed a political quagmire inside the United States that should be construed as another blow to the men and women who selflessly volunteer to keep us safe at night.

While the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has sided with Xavier Alvarez on the “unconstitutionality” of a three-year law, it is evident what is really taking place in America today. Simply put, Alvarez was never a military hero, rather he is an outright zero, and the American elite no longer care about the real heroes of this great nation.

Those identified to ensure that justice prevails inside the United States are the same individuals who are taking away the security of this nation. The great majority of these persons are attorneys, judges, and politicians alike. While it is noted that some persons in these fields have outstanding patriotism and intelligence, it has become apparent that many within this American elite are crippling our nation.

Justice is a systematic process, entailing the moral and ethical principles that bring about righteousness. This systematic process of justice has taken a turn against our U.S. service members and their civilian counterparts. Three U.S. Navy SEALS were charged based on the allegations of a High Value Target. Luckily for them, they were acquitted, but their careers are now in jeopardy. We have the ongoing atrocity of the Leavenworth 10 and the Pendleton 8 (18 military heroes in prison due to their willingness to fight our enemies). Allen West has also faced similar crises due to his actions in Iraq that virtually forced him into early retirement. And there are numerous civilian contractors facing the same dilemma.

Today, insurance carriers are profiteering from those injured or killed abroad while fighting our enemies. The Defense Base Act is a completely broken principle that allows insurance carriers to become rich without providing contractually agreed services to the injured contractors who fight alongside our men and women in uniform. Statistics prove that the insurance carriers win the majority of DBA claims. Our government continues to allow such actions.

Now, the same system that is breaking apart our defense apparatus is allowing persons to falsify medals achieved or tours of duty; much like Richard Blumenthal and Xavier Alvarez. It is obvious that the current justice system within the United States is completely broken. We can no longer depend on moral and ethical elected persons to make proper decisions; as it is apparent such individuals can rarely be found today.

America was built by patriots. Our forefathers believed in moral and ethical patriotic responsibilities to fight our foreign and domestic enemies. They sacrificed everything for the future of this great nation.

Those who fight a similar fight today are being belittled, mistreated, and misrepresented by elites. Our traditional media overwhelms us with news about natural disasters and economic hardships, yet they have failed their responsibility to keep us informed about the realities and hardships taking place against the men and women who fight for our freedoms.

While the brave fight for our freedoms, who is fighting for theirs? Justice no longer exists for our brave patriots; it is time we the people bring it back. We must stand up America. We must stand up and write our elected officials, sign petitions, and vote intelligently this November for those who realize that without persons willing to fight for the security of this nation, we have no nation.

Hezbollah built an elaborate network of tunnels that will allow its members to fight a future war against Israel without being exposed to Air Force bombardments and IDF surveillance, a Kuwaiti newspaper says.

According to a report published by the al-Rai newspaper, the tunnel network “is more impressive than the Paris underground,” and is meant to prevent the IDF from gravely hurting Hezbollah by aerial or ground attacks.

The report also claimed Hezbollah created an underground system of weapon caches, and that additional warehouses were dispersed in different locations above ground, so they are not damaged by IDF attacks, as was the case during the Second Lebanon War.

Al-Qaeda wants 9/11 in Israel

Meanwhile, al-Qaeda is preparing its fighters in the Arabian peninsula for the possibility of an Iran-Israel warn, urging Arab pilots to crash into targets in Israel.

A terror leader in Yemen urged Jihad supporters to exploit a future war between the Jewish State and the Ayatollah regime in order to advance al-Qaeda’s causes, the Daily Beast website reported.

The deputy chief of al-Qaeda’s arm in Yemen, Saeed al-Shehri, told supporters via an audio message that a war is expected to break out after Israel will strike Tehran’s nuclear facilities, prompting a chain reaction that would lead to an all-out regional war.

Sheri then calls on Arab Air Force pilots who endorse the cause of Jihad to fly their planes into Israeli targets, replicating the September 11 attacks. He also urged followers with access to top Arab leaders to assassinate them, similarly to the killing of “tyrant Anwar Sadat,” the Egyptian president murdered by Islamic radicals.

Nasrallah in Fear of Government Collapse If Hezbollah Charged in Hariri Killing

The most important thing for him [Nasrallah] is not to be blamed for the Hariri assassination. Such charge may shake up Nasrallah and his organization. First of all, the government would collapse, the wave of assassination will make a grand comeback, and Hezbollah fighters would have to take over Beirut.

Nasrallah’s nightmare scenario also includes the worst option: Commandoes (guess where they would come from) embarking on a manhunt for the group’s leadership (and thanks to all the agents and spies) and kicking it out of Lebanon. Nobody would shed a tear should such operation succeed.

IDF Reveals Hezbollah Positions

Hizbullah will likely fire close to 800 rockets into Israel every day during a future war, senior IDF officers said on Wednesday, as the Northern Command declassified for the first time evidence of Hizbullah’s growing presence inside close to 160 villages throughout southern Lebanon.

Using the village of el-Khiam – located about 4 km. north of the border – as an example, the IDF showed extensive footage, videos and maps of homes that Hizbullah has taken over and used to store weapons caches and establish command-and-control centers.

The declassified material also revealed the location of improvised explosive devices, some of them weighing up to half a ton, which Hizbullah has positioned, mostly at the entrance to the village.

The IDF recently dispatched a delegation to UN headquarters in New York to present the evidence to diplomats. The evidence was also presented to the new commander of UNIFIL, Maj.-Gen. Alberto Asarta Cuevas of Spain.

The IDF said that Hizbullah today maintains about 20,000 guerrilla fighters throughout southern Lebanon, whose main objective is to prevent an Israeli ground invasion. The fighters are also responsible for operating Hizbullah’s extensive missile capability, which would allow them to strike deep within Israel.

Hizbullah has an estimated 40,000 short-, medium- and long-range missiles.

The declassification of the material on Wednesday is a demonstration of the IDF’s penetration of Hizbullah and Israeli efforts to collect intelligence on the Iranian-backed Shi’ite terror group.

Hizbullah has split its forces into three divisions. The Southern Division, the IDF said, consists of 5,000 fighters and has approximately 30,000 missiles and rockets and a number of subdivisions. Each subdivision is responsible for approximately 15 villages. Each village contains between 20 and 200 fighters, hundreds of mortar shells, hundreds of short-and medium- range rockets, and a number of command centers.

In the maps unveiled by the IDF, Hizbullah weapons caches are shown approximately 50 meters from schools and hospitals. Storage and command centers are in most cases located inside or adjacent to civilian homes.

“It is important to show the world that Hizbullah has built up its military infrastructure inside villages, with the objective that we will kill the maximum amount of civilians in a future conflict,” a senior IDF officer said.

“We want to warn that if we are attacked by Hizbullah – this may happen.”

While the IDF believes that Hizbullah is currently not interested in a new conflict, it is concerned with continued attempts by the group to strike at Israel to exact revenge for the 2008 assassination of its top military commander, Imad Mughniyeh, in Damascus.

The IDF is preparing for scenarios that include a kidnapping along the border and an infiltration into an Israeli border community.

“We see Hizbullah’s grip inside the villages and we view an infiltration into Israel as the primary threat,” Col. Ronen Moreli, commander of Brigade 300, told reporters.

Hizbullah is believed to have established thousands of positions inside approximately 160 villages in southern Lebanon. Most of Hizbullah’s rockets have ranges under 100 km. but the group is believed to have long-range missiles – some of them the Syrian-made M600 – which have a range of about 300 km. and unprecedented accuracy.

A federal investigation of a controversial Arizona sheriff known for tough immigration enforcement has intensified in recent days, escalating the conflict between the Obama administration and officials in the border state.

Justice Department officials in Washington have issued a rare threat to sue Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio if he does not cooperate with their investigation of whether he discriminates against Hispanics. The civil rights inquiry is one of two that target the man who calls himself “America’s toughest sheriff.” A federal grand jury in Phoenix is examining whether Arpaio has used his power to investigate and intimidate political opponents and whether his office misappropriated government money, sources said.

The standoff comes just weeks after the Justice Department sued Arizona and Gov. Jan Brewer® because of the state’s new immigration law, heightening tensions over the issue ahead of November’s midterm elections. The renewed debate has focused attention on Arpaio, a former D.C. police officer who runs a 3,800-employee department, and a state at the epicenter of the controversy over the nation’s estimated 12 million illegal immigrants.

Once seen as a quirky figure who has inmates dress in pink underwear and forces them to work on chain gangs, Arpaio has in recent years become a kind of folk hero to those who favor his heavily publicized “crime sweeps,” conducted mostly in Hispanic neighborhoods. But civil rights groups accuse the 78-year-old lawman of racial profiling. And some Maricopa County officials say Arpaio has begun meritless corruption investigations of officials who have criticized his policies or opposed his requests.

Those allegations are at the core of the Justice Department investigations, according to documents, lawyers familiar with the inquiries, and people who have been questioned by FBI agents and the grand jury.

The investigations reflect the tangled politics surrounding the immigration debate. The criminal probe is led by Dennis K. Burke, the U.S. attorney in Phoenix who was a top aide to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano.

Two of Arpaio’s attorneys, Robert N. Driscoll and Asheesh Agarwal, were officials in the Justice Department’s civil rights division in the George W. Bush administration. They denied that the sheriff, a Republican who has been reelected four times since 1992, has been uncooperative or has engaged in racial profiling, misusing money or targeting political enemies.

“The sheriff’s office is cooperating fully with the grand jury investigation and has complete confidence that the inquiry will clear it of any wrongdoing,” Agarwal said. “The office has always fulfilled its responsibilities truthfully, honorably, and in full compliance with state and federal law.”

Arpaio’s attorneys contend that the investigations are politically motivated, citing a news conference in March at which Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. was quoted as saying he expects the inquiries to “produce results.”

“While we have no quarrel with the assistant U.S. attorneys handling the investigation, the attorney general’s comments appear to violate federal regulations, departmental policy and state ethical rules designed to ensure the fairness of criminal investigations,” Agarwal said.

Iran Air 744 is a bimonthly flight that originates in Tehran and flies directly to Caracas with periodic stops in Beirut and Damascus. The maiden flight was Feb. 2, 2007.

The mere existence of the flight was a significant concern for U.S. intelligence officials, but now a broader concern is who and what are aboard the flights.

“If you [a member of the public] tried to book yourself a seat on this flight and it doesn’t matter whether it’s a week before, a month before, six months before – you’ll never find a place to sit there,” says Offer Baruch, a former Israeli Shin Bet agent.

Baruch, now vice president of operations for International Shield, a security firm in Texas, says the plane is reserved for Iranian agents, including “Hezbollah, the Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) and other intelligence personnel.”

Current and former U.S. intelligence official fear the flight is a shadowy way to move people and weapons to locations in Latin America that can be used as staging points for retaliatory attacks against the U.S. or its interests in the event Iranian nuclear sites are struck by U.S. or Israeli military forces.

“My understanding is that this flight not only goes from Caracas to Damascus to Tehran perhaps twice a month, but it also occasionally makes stops in Lebanon as well, and the passengers on that flight are not processed through normal Venezuelan immigrations or customs. They are processed separately when they come into the country,” says Peter Brookes, senior fellow for National Security Affairs at the Heritage Foundation.

The 16-hour flight typically leaves Tehran and stops at Damascus International Airport (DAM), which is Syria’s busiest. In 2009, almost 4.5 million passengers used the airport.

After a 90-minute layover, the flight continues the remaining 14 hours to Venezuela’s Caracas Maiquetía International Airport (CCS). Upon arrival, the plane is met by special Venezuelan forces and sequestered from other arrivals.

“It says that something secretive or clandestine is going on that they don’t want the international community to know about,” says Brookes, a former deputy assistant defense secretary for Asian and Pacific Affairs and CIA employee.

We’re nowhere near the point of no return. Far from it. Jeff Goldberg laid out the worst-case scenario, but not necessarily the most likely. His exhaustive reporting also assembled part of the picture, albeit a pivotal part, but by no means the entire intricate mosaic.

The United States and the many other parties now consumed with Iran’s controversial nuclear program have at least a year of intense diplomacy – and possibly much longer – before they even consider military options. And that assumes diplomacy totally collapses, the Iranians can be clearly blamed, and reliable intelligence proves Tehran’s program has crossed a critical threshold.

With Iran, the state-of-play is rarely that straightforward. First, Iranians are masters at brinksmanship. Diplomacy always gets dragged out, and even negotiations that appear dead have a way of miraculously reviving – like an Iranian merchant chasing a customer down the dusty alleyways of Tehran’s Grand Bazaar to renegotiate a price and avoid losing the sale.

Iran has called for talks with its Western interlocutors after Ramadan, the holy month of fasting that ends in mid-September. (Last week, The New Yorker published an interview with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad delivering that message yet again.) The Obama administration is currently preparing for those talks – and taking them seriously. The main focus would be an interim deal, which would in turn open the way for comprehensive talks on Iran’s nuclear program. If Iran is also serious, this two-phase diplomatic process could go into late 2011 or longer.

Second, the Islamic Republic is also adept at not saying no. If diplomacy ultimately breaks down, Tehran has a long history of making it appear (sometimes accurately) that the impatient West walked away first – and should be blamed for failure. The perception about who is to blame is critical to the next step – returning to the United Nations for another resolution imposing more stringent sanctions or endorsing other punitive action.

Darrell Issa, R-Calif., the ranking Republican on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, issued a scathing staff report today charging that the White House has “used the machinery of the Obama campaign to tout the president’s agenda through inappropriate and sometimes unlawful public relations and propaganda initiatives.”

An advance pre-publication copy of the report, shared by Issa’s Washington office with WND, accuses the White House of nothing short of criminal activity. It charges the Obama administration with violating federal laws to advance what the Government Accounting Office has characterized as an unlawful “covert campaign,” using federal resources “to activate a sophisticated propaganda and lobbying campaign.”

Pulling no punches, the Oversight Republican Report accuses the Obama White House of “violating federal law prohibiting the use of appropriated funds for publicity or propaganda purposes.”

“The White house has failed to transition from campaign mode to leadership mode and is now inappropriately leveraging those campaign-trail relationships to unlawfully generate support for the president’s agenda,” the report concludes.

Read in its entirety, the Oversight Republican Report charges the Obama administration with the type of callous, unethical and possibly criminal manipulation of public opinion that is reminiscent of Watergate and the illegal campaign activities engineered by Donald Segretti on behalf of the Committee to Re-Elect the President during Richard Nixon’s presidential election campaign of 1972.

In 1964, Donald Segretti pleaded guilty to three misdemeanor counts of distributing illegal campaign materials, for which he served in federal prison four months of a six-month term.

The Obama administration’s abuses alleged in the Oversight Republican Report can be summed up under the term “astro-turfing,” a fraudulent public relations activity in which “the White House and the agency whose resources it is co-opting attempt to create the impression that grassroots support for a particular policy exists when in fact it has been fabricated using taxpayer dollars.”

The report points to several instances of alleged, unlawful abuses:

The National Endowment for the Arts

On Aug. 6, 2009, on behalf of the White House Office of Public Engagement, NEA Director Yosi Sergent invited a group of artists, producers, promoters, organizers, marketers and other influencers of the arts to participate in a conference call designed to encourage involvement in President Obama’s United We Serve program. Nell Abernathy, director of outreach for United We Serve and Buffy Wicks, deputy director of the White House Office of Public Engagement, identified the goal of the NEA program was to recruit artists to create art to support the president’s agenda “with the same enthusiasm and with the same energy that we all saw in each other during the campaign.”

The Oversight Republican Report, however, contends the initiative was illegal. “The use of taxpayer dollars and federal employees to create an alliance whereby the NEA becomes the de facto strategic communications arm of the White House is unlawful,” the report alleges. “Using a government e-mail account and government personnel and resources to host a call using artists and arts group to support the president’s agenda is a clear violation of federal law.”

The report stresses that it was inappropriate for representatives of the White House and the NEA to formerly ask artists and entertainers to use their talents to support the president’s agenda “because many of these people rely on NEA grants to subsidize their livelihoods.”

The Department of Justice

In October 2008, the Justice Department’s Office of Public Affairs added Tracy Russo, the chief blogger and deputy director for online communications for Sen. John Edwards’ presidential campaign, to direct the Department’s “new media efforts.” The Oversight Republican Report documents that Russo covertly attempted to shape public opinion by posting comments on the Internet anonymously, or through the use of a pseudonym, attacking authors or contents viewed as critical of the president, in an effort to shape debate online.

The report concludes, “The deployment of Justice Department resources to generate clandestine comments on message boards and blogs is a highly improper use of the Department’s resources.”

The report cites GAO rulings stating that covert propaganda violates Title 5 U.S.C. Section 3107 of federal law, which prohibits the use of publicity experts unless specifically appropriated for that purpose.

Office of Education

The Oversight Republican Report details that beginning on the morning of April 24, 2009, U.S. Department of Education Deputy Assistant Secretary for External Affairs and Outreach Massie Ritsch launched an e-mail campaign in coordination with the White House to promote President Obama’s plan to begin a federal takeover of student loans.

The report again charges criminal abuses: “The intent of the e-mail is clearly to create grassroots support for the president’s education agenda by inappropriately leveraging Ritsch’s position as a Department of Education employee. Because it was drafted or intended to influence members of Congress while they consider the president’s federal student loan plan, it is unlawful.”

The Oversight Republican Report charges that in March 2010, White House Office for Health Reform Director Nancy-Ann DeParle sent “overtly partisan, unsolicited health-reform e-mails to career civil servants in executive branch offices, suggesting to recipients that they were being officially instructed by the White House to support the president’s health-care reform proposals.”

Again, the report charges the Obama White House with illegal activity: “Criminal statutes prohibit executive branch officials from using appropriated funds to influence the legislative process. Title 18 of the United States Code, section 1913, prohibits federal employees from engaging in the very activities DeParle urges.”

Department of Health and Human Resources

The Oversight Republican Report charges that the Department of Health and Human Resources contracted with Jonathan Gruber, a health-care economist from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, to provide “technical assistance” to support President Obama’s health care reform proposals.

For this, Gruber was paid $297,600, plus another $95,000 for a second HHS job. The Obama administration then relied upon and distributed Gruber’s commentary and views to publications including Time, The Washington Post, the New York Times and the New Republic without revealing that Gruber was a paid HHS consultant.

“Using HHS appropriations to contract a highly visible health-care expert to advocate on behalf of administration policies under the guise of providing ‘technical assistance’ is inappropriate,” the Oversight Republican Report concludes, while further alleging that the administration’s failure to disclose Gruber’s status while touting his work violates GAO’s policy prohibiting covert propaganda.

Other abuses

Among the additional abuses, the Oversight Republican Report cites a cable television ad featuring 84-year-old Andy Griffith promoting Medicare and the Obama administration’s health-care reform bill.

The Department of Health and Human Services paid $700,000 to make the cable television ad buy, and the report alleges the commercial – run in July 2010 – gave the appearance that it was “designed to affect general elections by convincing seniors to support one of the Democrat’s major legislative initiatives.”

The report further charges the White House of posting “fictitious and misleading” information about jobs “saved and created” on the White House-maintained website Recovery.gov.

Also criticized are signs the Federal Highway Administration has encouraged the states to post, announcing that new federal highway projects were being funded by stimulus dollars.

David Axelrod and astro-turfing

The practice of using covert propaganda to push political opinion is familiar to at least one administration official, Obama Senior Advisor David Axelrod.

Prior to joining then-Sen. Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign, Axelrod was a partner in AKP&D Message & Media, a Chicago-based media and public relations firm that listed among its corporate clients Cablevision and AT&T.

According to a Business Week report published in 2008, AKP&D set up front organizations for corporations that wanted to run public issue ads without having the ads identified as having been paid for by the corporations.

Business Week cited as an example a television commercial Axelrod’s firm created for Commonwealth Edison, the largest electric utility in Illinois. The ad warned a ComEd bankruptcy and blackouts could occur unless a rate hike was approved. The ad was sponsored by CORE, which described itself as “a coalition of individuals, businesses and organizations.”

After a complaint was filed with state regulators, ComEd was forced to admit it had bankrolled the entire $15-million effort.

The day Scott Winchell and I saw terrorist Adnan el-Shukrijumah, We were walking along a path on the campus of McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, and he was walking towards us. His expression was intense and he seemed deep in thought. We never made eye contact, but We recognized him immediately.

Shukrijumah is a very short man, barely 5’4”, and his face is distinctive. I had been studying his activities for several months. I knew he was a master of disguise and that he had the ability to pass from country to country, seemingly at will and without being recognized or caught. But on that day, he was clean shaven and wearing casual clothing in what he must have considered a comfortable and safe setting.

I already knew that he was an insider in al-Qaeda, with multiple passports, and links to Canada, Trinidad, Saudi Arabia, Guyana, Mexico, the US, and no doubt a raft of other countries as well. He was clearly a man with a deadly mission, and a rising star among the al Qaeda elite. And his appearance at McMaster, looking like any other student, was not comforting.

I first learned about Shukrijumah from Dr. Paul Williams, author of Day of Islam, who had carried out some extensive research on Shukrijumah and first described his activities at McMaster. Williams wrote a book about what he found, in which he reported that Shukrijumah had stolen 180 pounds of nuclear material from the 2campus reactor. Although McMaster denied the loss and sued Williams for libel, the fact was corroborated by a number of respected experts.

It was because of Dr William’s work that I made the trip to Hamilton. I visited the campus with my colleague, Scott Winchell. Our tour included a walk through the reactor building, a small building right in the center of the campus. We walked through its open door, entering unchallenged. There was no security, not even a receptionist. We wandered briefly through and around the building, and then we explored the rest of the campus.

We visited the graduate and undergraduate engineering departments, the library, and the student union. We interviewed a number of administrators, students, and faculty members. What we found there was a lot of material for another article, but it was the chance sighting of Adnan el-Shukrijuma that made the trip most memorable.

After seeing him that day at McMaster, I immediately called a contact I had been given at the counter-terrorism task force of the Canadian police, but had to leave a voice mail and never received a call back. Then I called the FBI.

As early as March 2003, the FBI had asked for help from law enforcement and the public to locate Shukrijumah. They had posted a $5 million reward on his head “for information leading directly to [his] capture”. He was the man the FBI has called “the next Mohammed Atta”, and FBI director Robert Mueller labeled Shukrijumah “the most dangerous terrorist in the western hemisphere.” On March 26, 2003 the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia issued a Material Witness Warrant for his arrest.

But when I notified the local FBI office in early November 2007, I was told that because they had no warrant for his arrest, they could do nothing about apprehending him.

Although their 2003 alert warned that Shukrijumah might be planning an al Qaeda terrorist attack in the United States, it wasn’t until last week that the FBI finally indicted Shukrijumah for plotting terrorism against US targets.

Shukrijumah was raised in the US and speaks English without an accent. His father was an Imam who had a brief connection with the Al Farouk mosque in Brooklyn, and then studied at both Broward College in Florida and McMaster. He is known as an engineer, a bomb maker, and a pilot. He is known to have strong personal ties to Trinidad and Tobago, and went there in 2001, 2003, and 2006, although his reasons for being there are still vague. He is thought to have close ties to several terrorist groups there. It has also been reported that he spent several months in Point Fortin there working on the construction of the LNG Port, which is the largest such terminal in the world.

Center for Security Policy

On Friday night, Barack Obama gave his full-throated endorsement to a mosque and “cultural center” on private property that has been purchased in Lower Manhattan adjacent to the site where the World Trade Center’s twin towers once stood. By Saturday, however, he wanted the American people to know that he was not commenting on “the wisdom” of putting such a mosque by that hallowed ground – just “the right” of its backers like Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf to do it, pursuant to the Constitution’s protection of religious freedom.

Unfortunately for the President – but fortunately for the country – it is too late for such ludicrous contortions and dissembling. However much Mr. Obama and his fellow Democrats now regret his original White House statement, it has created a “teachable moment.” Not just about the Ground Zero mosque but about the larger enterprise it is intended to serve: bringing the law of Saudi Arabia and Iran, shariah, to America.

Imam Rauf makes no bones about that being his purpose. So do some of his most prominent backers, like the Muslim Brotherhood front, the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), and the Brotherhood’s Palestinian franchise, the designated terrorist group Hamas. In fact, according to the New York Post, on Sunday, Mahmoud al-Zahar, an Hamas co-founder and leader in Gaza, told WABC Radio host Aaron Klein: “We have to build the mosque [at Ground Zero]. We have to build everywhere. In every area we have [as] Muslim[s], we have to pray and this mosque is the only site of prayer.”

Al-Zahar also enthused about shariah, calling it the “tradition of Islam” which “is controlling every source of our life as regards to marriage, divorce, our commercial relations.” He added ominously that, “Even the Islamic people or Muslims in [the United States] are living now in the tradition of Islam.”

What else have we learned so far from Mr. Obama’s teachable shariah moment? We now know that the President is willing to associate with members of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB), not just in Cairo – where he insisted they be invited to hear his famous paean to Islam last year – but in the White House. For example, leaders of known MB front groups like Ingrid Mattson of the Islamic Society of North America and Salam al-Marayati of the Muslim Public Affairs Council were in the company at the Iftar dinner Friday when Mr. Obama fervently embraced the Ground Zero mosque.

This is an important insight since we know from uncontested evidence submitted by the government in the largest terrorism finance trial in U.S. history – the Holy Land Foundation case – that the Muslim Brotherhood’s mission in America is “destroying Western civilization from within and ‘sabotaging’ its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.”

What on earth is the President of the United States doing fraternizing with, and thereby legitimating, operatives of an organization with such a seditious mission – to say nothing of endorsing their most immediate priority: the Ground Zero Mosque?

We have also learned that the Obama administration insists that Imam Rauf, another Brotherhood apparatchik, is a “moderate.” Never mind the abundant evidence to the contrary – not least his statement that he wants to bring shariah to America. Believing him to be a good “ambassador” for the United States, the Obama-Hillary Clinton State Department has gone so far as to send Rauf on a taxpayer-funded trip to Arab capitals. While there, he will surely try to parlay the President of the United States’ explicit endorsement of his Ground Zero project and sponsorship of his travels into funding from oil-rich promoters of shariah to build his 13-story, $100 million megamosque within spitting distance of some of America’s most hallowed real estate.

There is much more yet to be learned, of course. For example: Why is the U.S. government promoting the Brotherhood’s effort to penetrate our capital markets via “shariah-compliant finance,” including its direct ownership of a huge player in that field, AIG? Which other shariah-adherent Muslims are getting their expenses paid by the State Department as they network around the globe on behalf of their seditious agenda? How much is this outrageous program costing, and what does Foggy Bottom have to show for it? Why did Team Obama cosponsor a UN resolution last Fall imposing “shariah blasphemy” laws that utterly conflict with the First Amendment’s protection of free speech?

As he hosted the Ramadan fast-breaking dinner at the White House on Friday, President Obama showed his true colors on shariah. Trying to dress up the Ground Zero mosque or any other aspect of this brutally repressive, totalitarian and inherently unconstitutional program as a matter of “religious freedom” does not pass the giggle test. Shariah is about power, not faith, and no amount of Obama subsidies, solidarity or spin on behalf of that agenda will persuade the American people to allow the so-called “tradition of Islam” to supplant our civil liberties, form of government and way of life.

For several weeks, police have been quietly searching for a serial killer who stabbed poor Black victims in Flint, Michigan, then fled to Leesburg, Virginia, where his sister lives. Many family members of the victims were angry that the police did not disclose the White identity of the murderer, saying it was racist. But, now, it’s very clear why they hid his identity and true visual description: Elias Abuelazam is a Palestinian Arab illegal alien who was here on an expired passport.

“He was a dark Middle Eastern guy and the description was of a White guy,” said [DS: his neighbor] Carrie Strang, who woke up this morning to find police cars and news vans outside.

Wow, we’ve really regressed a long way when we endanger people’s lives to give a politically-correct, whitewashed description of a Palestinian serial killer.

Abuelazam, who killed five people and attacked 20 others in three states, engaged in apparent marriage fraud, marrying a woman from Texas (and never adjusting his immigration status), then divorcing her.

Police stopped Abuelazam, who was trying to board a flight to escape to Israel. Unfortunately, while Abuelazam’s name isn’t being publicized, that he is “from Israel” is. It’s funny: they hate Israel, but whenever Palestinians are in trouble, suddenly they are “from Israel.” He may have been born in Israel and even have an Israeli passport, but he and his ilk identify as and with Palestinians. The guy is NOT Israeli, contrary to MSNBC’s disgusting headline:

Abuelazam specifically targeted Blacks and stabbed them to death. Disgustingly, some of the Detroit media, including “newscaster” Trudi Daniels of Detroit’s WRIF-FM, are making excuses for the guy, with Daniels saying that he probably did this because “maybe a Black guy raped his wife” or someone Black robbed him or committed some other crime against him, she surmised. Daniels is an uber-liberal . . . and, now, clearly a racist.

It is well known that Palestinians, Arabs, and the Arab and Muslim worlds are racist. As I’ve noted before, they call Blacks, “abed” or “abeed”–singular and plural for slave, in Arabic.

Abuelazam was employed at a Flint-area convenience store, the Kingwater Market, owned by fellow Arab, Abdullah Farah. How interesting that it didn’t bother them that he was here illegally. Yes, they are accessories to his illegal alien presence in America, but nothing will happen to them. Because we just don’t have the guts, do we?

We don’t have the guts to protect our borders or to do a damned thing to those who help keep it porous and indefensible.

Nor do we do a damned thing about police who won’t correctly identify a Middle-Eastern Arab serial killer on the loose because, post-9/11, we must bow down to the Arab street at all cost.

Stuffing ballot boxes, faking election results, sending in illegal ballots, having ineligible people vote, threats of harm to potential voters…All of these things have taken place during American elections.

Today we have millions of people who will be voting for the first time. There are millions more who became of voting age after the year 2000. Most of them have no knowledge of how the Democrat Party tried to capture the presidential vote in Florida by denying American military personnel their right to cast a ballot in that election.

The 2000 national election for President of the Unite States of America was too close to call, even if the mainstream media was predicting a win for Al Gore. The race finally cam down to which candidate won the Florida vote.

The race was so tight that a recount was demanded. Florida’s Democrat majority Supreme Court decided that only four heavily Democratic counties would undergo a recount. Historically when the Democrats have handled any recount they have seldom lost an election. To assure themselves such a victory Party attorney Mark Herron wrote a letter of instructions to all Democrat organizations and the Gore campaign detailing for them how to challenge all military votes sent in from overseas posts. When that letter was written George Bush was ahead in the vote count.

Both Florida and Federal law require military mail-in ballots to be counted if they are received within ten days after an election. The Democrat Party knows those in uniform historically are conservative in nature. It is estimated that up to 80% of military personnel vote for the GOP. This could not be allowed in a tight race and the Herron letter instructed those counting the ballots to challenge or deny military ballots before the envelope was opened. A long list of ways to exclude these votes was also provided in the letter.

The end result was this ploy to deny American fighting men and women their blood earned right to vote failed to work…and George W. Bush was elected to the office of President.

Since that event transpired, the Military and Overseas Voting Empowerment (MOVE) Act has become law. That act requires every state to send absentee ballots to overseas military voters no later than 45 days before a general election, thus removing problems of time delay in getting ballots to service personnel and returned to the state where they are voting.

But there are political people who will never stop trying to twist situations to their own special advantage. The Obama Administration’s Justice Department has been suggesting to various states that they can ignore the 45-day rule for absentee ballots and delay sending them overseas. They are being told they can request waivers of that 45-day rule and that waivers will be generously granted.

Another important fact legal experts have noted is the Department of Justice website, filled with various instructions and information on voting, makes no mention of the 45 day advanced posting rule set forth in the MOVE act.

Political writer Paul R. Hollrah noted in an article he penned, “It is no secret that members of our military services, veterans, and retired military personnel vote heavily Republican. It is also no secret that the party of choice among prison inmates, convicted felons and parolees is the Democrat Party.”

He then points out that even though the Department of Justice website fails to mention the MOVE Act or offer instructions or details related to overseas military voting, “it does contain a detailed section devoted to instructing convicted felons on how to have their voting rights reinstated.”

Here we are, less than three months away from another general election and once again the Democrats are attempting to suppress the military vote, while at the same time they attempt to let the criminal element of the country know their votes are welcome.

For both Israel and the United States, the Iranian nuclear “clock” is still ticking. What strategic options remain available to Jerusalem and Washington? Soon, Israel will begin to deploy Iron Dome, a unique and promising system designed to deal effectively with short-range rocket dangers from primarily Gaza and Lebanon. But what can now be done about longer-range and higher-consequence threats from Iran?

The core of Israel’s active defense plan for Iran remains the phased Arrow anti-ballistic missile program. Designed to intercept medium and short-range ballistic missiles, the various forms of Arrow (“Hetz” in Hebrew) are expected to deal especially with Iran’s surface-to-surface missile threat. Basically a high stratospheric system, Arrow is also capable of low-altitude and multi-tactical ballistic missile interceptions.

From the technical side, as with Iron Dome, everything seems to be looking good. Test results for the Arrow, as for Iron Dome, continue to be strongly positive.

Yet, there are also some important and underlying conceptual problems. Facing the prospect of a fully nuclear Iran, Israel must consider whether it can rely entirely upon a suitable combination of deterrence and active defense, or whether it must still prepare for preemption.

Can Israel live with a nuclear Iran? This is the critical question today. The answer will have genuinely life or death consequences for the Jewish State.

In principle, Israel’s preemption option may now appear less urgent. Many strategic planners and scientists believe that the Arrow’s repeated success in testing confirms that Israel is prepared to deal satisfactorily with any and all conceivable Iranian nuclear missile attack scenarios. Indeed, the Israel Air Force has even tested the Arrow against a missile precisely resembling Iran’s Shihab-3.

It would appear that if Arrow were suitably efficient in its expected reliability of interception, even an irrational Iranian adversary armed with nuclear and/or biological weapons could already be dealt with effectively. Even if Israel’s nuclear deterrent were somehow made irrelevant by Iran or another enemy state willing to risk almost certain and massive “counter-value” Israeli reprisal, that aggressor’s ensuing first-strike could still presumably be blocked by Arrow. Why, then, should Israel still consider preemption against Iran?

The answer lies in certain untenable assumptions about any system of ballistic missile defense. Israel’s defense problem is a generic one. No system of ballistic missile defense, anywhere, can be correctly appraised as simply “reliable” or “unreliable.”

Operational reliability of intercept is a “soft” concept, and any missile defense system – however successful in its test results – will have “leakage.” Whether or not such leakage would fall within acceptable levels must ultimately depend largely upon the kinds of warheads fitted upon an enemy’s missiles. The Arrow’s commendable test successes might not be reproducible against faster and more advanced Iranian missiles.

What happens when a politician is more honest than his critics.

The immune system of the modern body politic is nothing if not resilient, and this summer all of its antibodies seem to be trained on heretofore little known Congressman Paul Ryan. That makes this a particularly instructive moment, because the attacks on the Wisconsin Republican show how deeply his radical honesty is subverting Washington’s flim-flam – to borrow a phrase.

“The flim-flam man” is what Paul Krugman called Mr. Ryan in a New York Times column last week that set a spleen-to-substance record even for him. Amid drive-by attacks on the Congressman’s ethics and integrity, Mr. Krugman savaged Mr. Ryan’s “roadmap” – his detailed, long-range proposal to equalize taxes and the size of government – as “a fraud that makes no useful contribution to the debate over America’s fiscal future.”

This might be dismissed as a familiar primal scream, except it perfectly echoes the Democratic Party’s emerging election strategy. The bills for decades of unsustainable social commitments are now coming due, especially Medicare, even as Democrats have created a vast new liability in ObamaCare. Mr. Ryan has one of the few credible plans for rationalizing the federal fisc, and his critics are so vicious because his candor exposes Washington’s illusions about the entitlement state while offering a genuine alternative. Democrats hope that demagoguing his proposals will allow them to hang on to their majorities this fall.

Thus Peter Orszag, until last week the White House budget director, devoted much of his farewell lecture at the Brookings Institution to Mr. Ryan’s plan “to replace Medicare as we know it.” Having presided over record deficits of $1.4 trillion in 2009 – or 9.9% of GDP – and an expected $1.5 trillion in 2010, Mr. Orszag no doubt finds it easier to change the subject than defend his own record and agenda.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee recently attacked “NINE REPUBLICAN SENATE CANDIDATES WHO WANT TO END MEDICARE AS WE KNOW IT.” Most of the “facts” in this missive consist of lukewarm-to-friendly comments these heretics had at one time or another made about Mr. Ryan.

The main liberal policy objection, to the extent a serious one exists, is that the roadmap would “cut working folks loose so they’ve got to fend for themselves,” as President Obama described the supposed Republican economic philosophy at a Chicago fundraiser last week.

Mr. Ryan wants to remodel Medicare by giving seniors a modified voucher to buy private insurance. Mr. Orszag, et al., concede that the roadmap would make the entitlement permanently solvent, as confirmed in an analysis by their icon the Congressional Budget Office, but they claim that the amount of the voucher would not keep pace with rising health-care costs.

This is an odd complaint for an economist like Mr. Orszag, given that more market discipline and consumer choice in health care would drive down costs as it does in all other dynamic sectors of the economy. To take one example, recent research by Michael Chernew of Harvard shows that a one percentage point increase in seniors insured by Medicare Advantage HMOs – the Ryan-like program that offers private options – reduces traditional fee-for-service Medicare spending by 0.9%, despite its price controls.

In other words, cost-conscious competition changes how doctors and hospitals provide care to all patients. A larger transition to market-based medicine could turn out to be as smooth as the private-sector shift to 401(k)s from defined-benefit pensions, and a similar reform was even suggested in 1999 by Bill Clinton’s Medicare commission, which was led by Louisiana Democrat John Breaux.

This model is a threat to the ideology of those like Mr. Krugman who believe that government can and should decide how all patients are treated. But technocratic central planning won’t reform the system, as its sad 45-year history in Medicare shows, and nothing is more likely to finish off Medicare “as we know it” than to continue the current trajectory as it swallows the federal fisc and crowds out all other priorities.

In that sense, Mr. Ryan is really presenting Washington with a philosophical choice between the status quo of an ever-larger and ever-more indebted government and a plan to pay for the promises we’ve made while still preserving free markets and economic growth. The firehose of invective pointed at Mr. Ryan is in part an attempt to scare voters and in part an effort to prevent voters from understanding that there is in fact a choice.

A retired major general who is a decorated combat veteran and ran an abbreviated campaign for the presidency in 2008 says Congress should deliver an ultimatum to President Obama: Prove your eligibility or quit.

The comments come from Major Gen. Jerry Curry, who served in Vietnam and commanded the U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command at Aberdeen Proving Ground during his long military career.

“Action should be taken by the Senate and should be taken by the House,” he said. “They should serve notice on him and say ‘Mr. President, we love you but we want to tell you something. You’re under a cloud of suspicion. We can’t continue running this country with you in charge under this cloud. Now either you clear it up or you resign from office.’”

The issue arose when a caller asked about Curry’s opinion of Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin, an active duty doctor who is challenging Obama’s eligibility to be commander-in-chief in the military courts.

“I think he’s a very brave man,” Curry said. “I hope he’s got good counselors. They are going to try to destroy him personally in this process. I just hope he’s prepared to stay for the long term.”

In an report in the Greeley Gazette, Curry expanded on his comments.

He said the military should not be in the position even of trying to get such answers.

“It shouldn’t be the lieutenant colonels, sergeants and generals in the Army. It should be the congressman and senators on both sides of the issue asking this man to step up to the plate” to provide proof, Curry said.

He said in his video interview, it really shouldn’t even be necessary for Congress to do anything.

“If he has anything going for him in term of decency and honesty and the kind of whatever it takes to be a good American and be a good public servant, if he has any of that stuff, he would throw it all out of the window and say, ‘Look folks. I’m an American citizen. I am native born. Tell me what you want to prove it and I will give it to you,” Curry said.

It was on Friday that Lt. Col. Lakin had an arraignment on various charges filed by the Army over his refusal to deploy until Obama can confirm his eligibility.

Lakin’s counsel has asked for verification of Obama’s birth documentation in court, a request that was rejected early on then renewed. But the attorney has asked how Lakin could be convicted of a criminal count without documenting the evidence fully.

Curry, who fought in Vietnam, also was military deputy assistant secretary of defense under President Carter, administrator of the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration under President George H.W. Bush and worked with the secretary of defense under President Reagan. He is not the first senior military leader to suggest Obama has problems.

Retired U.S. Maj. Gen. Paul E. Vallely, a noted military leader who now is a presence on the Internet with his Stand Up America and Veterans Defenders websites, earlier told WND he would like Obama to resign.

Vallely, who served in Vietnam and retired in 1991 from the U.S. Army as deputy commanding general for the Pacific, said, “We now must call for the immediate resignation of Barry Soetoro (aka President Barack Hussein Obama) … based on incompetence, deceit, fraud, corruption, dishonesty and violation of the U.S. oath of office and the Constitution.”

“We can wait no longer for a traditional change of power and new government,” he has warned.

”’We the People’ have had enough. Enough is enough. The Obama White House and identifiable members of Congress are now on a progressive-socialist, treasonous death march and are bankrupting and weakening the country. We have watched them violate their sacred oath of office. ‘We, the People’ cannot wait for and solely rely on the next round of elections in November of this year. It is now and each day that these public servants must put the citizen’s interests above self-interest by resigning immediately,” he said.

Peter Ferrara, on the American Spectator website, also has predicted Obama’s resignation.

“I am now ready to predict that President Obama will not even make it [to 2012],” he wrote. “I predict that he will resign in discredited disgrace before the fall of 2012,” Ferrera said.

WND also reported recently that former congressman and GOP presidential candidate Tom Tancredo said for current members of the House and Senate to uphold their oath to defend the United States against enemies “foreign and domestic,” they need to file impeachment charges against Barack Obama.

Tancredo wrote in an opinion piece in the Washington Times that Obama’s “refusal to live up to his own oath of office – which includes the duty to defend the United States against foreign invasion – requires senators and representatives to live up to their oaths. Members of Congress must defend our nation against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Today, that means bringing impeachment charges against Mr. Obama.”

At the same time, Times columnist Jeffrey T. Kuhner, who also is president of the Edmund Burke Institute, wrote, “President Obama has engaged in numerous high crimes and misdemeanors. The Democratic majority in Congress is in peril as Americans reject his agenda. Yet more must be done: Mr. Obama should be impeached.”

Kuhner continued, “He is slowly – piece by painful piece – erecting a socialist dictatorship. We are not there – yet. But he is putting America on that dangerous path. He is undermining our constitutional system of checks and balances; subverting democratic procedures and the rule of law; presiding over a corrupt, gangster regime; and assaulting the very pillars of traditional capitalism. Like Venezuela’s leftist strongman, Hugo Chavez, Mr. Obama is bent on imposing a revolution from above – one that is polarizing America along racial, political and ideological lines. Mr. Obama is the most divisive president since Richard Nixon. His policies are balkanizing the country. It’s time for him to go.”

This article conclusively documents the deliberate criminal violations of our constitution by members of the Obama administration, and other related entities. Some of the more basic violations are addressed in the following US Criminal Code as annotated below:

Violation of Oath of Office

Federal law regulating oath of office by government officials is divided into four parts along with an executive order, which further defines the law for purposes of enforcement.

1 – 5 U.S.C. 3331, provides the text of the actual oath of office members of Congress are required to take before assuming office.

2 – 5 U.S.C. 3333 requires members of Congress sign an affidavit that they have taken the oath of office required by 5 U.S.C. 3331 and have not or will not violate that oath of office during their tenure of office as defined by the third part of the law,

3 – 5 U.S.C. 7311 , which explicitly makes it a federal criminal offense (and a violation of oath of office) for anyone employed in the United States Government (including members of Congress) to “advocate the overthrow of our constitutional form of government”.

4 – The fourth federal law, 18 U.S.C. 1918 provides penalties for violation of oath office described in 5 U.S.C. 7311 which include: (1) removal from office and; (2) confinement or a fine.

The definition of “advocate” is further specified in Executive Order 10450 , which for the purposes of enforcement supplements 5 U.S.C. 7311. One provision of Executive Order 10450 specifies it is a violation of 5 U.S.C. 7311, for any person taking the oath of office to advocate “the alteration … of the form of the government of the United States by unconstitutional means.”

Our form of government is defined by the Constitution of the United States. It can only be “altered” by constitutional amendment. Thus, according to Executive Order 10450 (and therefore 5 U.S. 7311) any act taken by government officials who have taken the oath of office prescribed by 5 U.S.C. 3331which alters the form of government other by amendment, is a criminal violation of the 5 U.S.C. 7311.

The only exception I raise is the suggestion of impeachment as the solution, As I see it, Impeachment is not the correct legal remedy. The suggestion of impeachment, leads me to speculate that the real purpose of this article is to send us off on one more wild goose chase and permitting more time for Obama to further his agenda. Historically, impeachment has never been an effective way in which to deal with these issues of such a criminal nature. It is my view most of what we have seen so far amounts to legal scrimmaging in the judicial system to buy time for Obama to continue to implement his agenda.

Please note the part of the second page of this article. This details that Rep. Issa, California and ranking member of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, is promising criminal investigations when the Republicans take control (assuming that occurs in November). Can anyone explain to me why Obama’s action will be more criminal when the Republicans are in control?

As I see it is a crime. Violation of the Constitution is a violation regardless of who is in power. Again my dear friends…this is not a political question as the courts might wish us to believe. This is a criminal issue.

Even Rep. Issa, based on the statement above (if it was properly attributed by the author) , is guilty of misprision of felony at this very moment! And he is not alone…every member of Congress and the Senate is also guilty! And there are others…

Whoever, having knowledge of the actual commission of a felony cognizable by a court of the United States, conceals and does not as soon as possible make known the same to some judge or other person in civil or military authority under the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.

Crimes, many of them, have been committed right in front of us all. Crimes that require the appropriate government and law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute as indicated, regardless of which party is in power.

These are criminal matters involving the Constitutional rule of law!

As a result you are invited to participate in a plan of action that, in this instance, is a bit unique. Instead of my filing criminal charges against those involved as an individual, I am suggesting a much more aggressive action with a much greater legal impact.

This time, not only will I file criminal charges alone, but I will also invite those of you who are so inclined, to join me in this action.

Does Obama’s anti-democratic ideology result from his dysfunctional childhood? An intriguing book, Faith of the Fatherless: The Psychology of Atheism, by Paul Vitz, argues this type background is a common precursor to the classic tyrant’s personality.

This suggests Barack’s beef with America might result from his own deficient past. Does it matter the source of our politician’s mental makeup? Of course it does. After all, we expect leaders to make policy based on empirical knowledge, not just knee-jerk reaction to past trauma.

For example, would Americans be pleased if the president outlawed taxis because his pooch was run over by a Checker Cab 30 years ago?

I – Effects of Losing a Father

For death of a young child’s father, effects of a fatherless childhood can devastate character development. Vitz claims the genesis of atheism and socialism are often driven by personal childhood tragedies.

Vitz describes how loss of faith in one’s earthly father, by death, absence, or from mistreatment, frequently leads to a loss of faith in God.

This “defective father hypothesis” gives a compelling explanation for “intense atheism” of famous intellectuals and politicians – the groups he writes about. Fathers can fail a child in many ways: By weak and cowardly behavior, abuse, or absence through death or abandonment.

Prof Vitz also describes childhoods of noted religious persons, linking belief to a warm father figure. He does not claim atheism is psychologically determined, but challenges the notion religious faith is irrational, whereas atheism is rigorous. Vitz claims an especially difficult window exists between ages 3-5, when a father’s loss via death is viewed as abandonment.

Also, he claims a physically abusive father can cause a boy to rage against all authority. So a lack of a positive male role model can translate into an inability to imagine God as a warm Father, as described in Judaism and Christianity.

II – The Famous Fatherless

Vitz focuses upon two groups: intellectuals and politicians, as the decisions of both are inordinately influenced by their religious views.

1. A. Intellectuals Who Lost Fathers

A brief list of atheist intellectuals greatly influencing the modern age includes: David Hume, famed anti-Christian philosopher, whose father died when he was 2. Arthur Schopenhauer, philosopher skeptic, whose father committed suicide when Art was 16.

Ludwig Feuerbach’s father abandoned family for another woman when Ludwig was 13.

Sigmund Freud’s father was a coward, sexual pervert, and religious hypocrite. Friedrich Nietzsche’s father, a pastor, died when he was 5.

Jean Paul Sartre’s dad died before the boy was 2.

Albert Camus,’ the existentialist writer, lost his father before he was born.

Thomas Hobbes, atheist philosopher, had a hypocrite pastor dad who abandoned family.

Votaire, famous French anti-religious author, hated his father, even changing his family name.

Philosopher Bertrand “Why I am Not a Christian” Russell, lost both parents before age 5.

In addition, America’s most famous atheist Madalyn Murray O’Hair tried to kill her father with an 8-inch butcher knife.

Current news about Israel’s interdiction of the Gaza flotilla centers on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s willingness to cooperate with a planned United Nations investigation. Leaving aside that the “international community” never calls for an equivalent investigation of endless Palestinian rocket attacks upon Israeli civilians from Gaza – Arab terror that made an Israeli blockade indispensable in the first place – the flotilla incident was merely the tip of a much larger iceberg. This far more critical and underlying danger is the impending creation of a Palestinian state.

Once any such state was established, the predictable cycle of anti-Israel terrorism, Israeli blockade and Palestinian counterblockade would plainly accelerate.

President Obama favors the creation of a Palestinian state. Such a creation, of course, remains the core of his oft-proposed Road Map to Peace in the Middle East. Ironically, any state of Palestine would quickly become a primary launching point for both “ordinary” terrorism and weapons of mass destruction, or mega-terrorism. Such terror-violence, in fact, could be directed not only at Israel, but also at the United States.

The Arab/Islamic world uniformly commends only a one-state solution, even among the “moderates.” This is evident in all official maps. For Israel, which has been replaced cartographically with “Palestine,” this can mean only a “final solution.”

Gaza is the site of close and growing cooperation between Hamas and al Qaeda. The “good offices” of Iran make much of this tactical and strategic cooperation possible.

Judea, Samaria (West Bank) and Lebanon are witnessing a determined al Qaeda push to establish more terror bases. In the West Bank, American military units, vainly seeking to blunt Hamas and al Qaeda, are actively assisting Fatah in the training of its “security forces.” Led by U.S. Lt. Gen. Keith Dayton, this self-defeating program will significantly enhance the effectiveness of Fatah terrorists once they inevitably begin to turn their weapons against both Americans and Israelis in any Hamas-ruled “Palestine.”

For some time, al Qaeda has been asserting its commitment to wage jihad against the Jewish state and against Jews in general. Only recently, however, has this explicitly genocidal intent begun to elicit serious Western attention. In a jihadi website posting, Osama bin Laden warned: “We will not recognize a state for the Jews, not even one inch of the land of Palestine.”

The physical destruction of Israel has always been Hamas’ unhidden objective, but al Qaeda, which has proved more adept at inserting itself into multiple local conflicts around the world and then incorporating them into the broader Wahhabi-Salafi war against the West, has now also fixed its primary operational sights on “Palestine.”

A two-state solution? The fragmented and fratricidal Palestinian Territories are not about to morph into a tolerant and democratic national society. Instead, they have become the newest major front in a well-organized international jihad movement. With Gaza an active forward base for global terrorism, Shiite Iran, long a close partner of Hamas as well as an al Qaeda ally, is steadily intensifying and diversifying its own existential threat to Israel.

The threat posed by Iran is not “only” nuclear. Moreover, close collaboration between various Shi’ite and Sunni groups will not be prevented because of religious differences.

While Israel was engaged reluctantly in Operation Cast Lead, Palestinian civil warfare revealed expanding concentric circles of jihadi alignment. Already, in a February 2008 interview with the al-Hayat Arab-language newspaper, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas repeated claims that al Qaeda’s growing presence in both Gaza and the West Bank would destabilize the entire region. Mr. Abbas, who quickly became an object of ridicule and vilification in Gaza, had warned earlier that Hamas was enhancing al Qaeda’s power.

Traveling by Bus

Buses must display the proper permits in order to cross into the District of Columbia and must adhere to the District’s rules for drop off, pick up, idling and parking. Buses will not be allowed to drop anywhere on the National Mall or Lincoln Memorial except for specifically designated areas.

The closest Metro stations to the Lincoln Memorial are Foggy Bottom-GWU, Federal Triangle and Smithsonian on the Orange and Blue lines and Metro Center on the Red Line. Visit the Washington Area Metro Transit Authority site to find locations for all the stations adjacent to the National Mall and to plan your trip.

Traveling by Car

This is not recommended! DC has very little parking around the Mall and much of it will be limited by mall construction projects, tour bus drop off or media truck access. DC has some 2-hour metered parking nearby which is monitored regularly and enforced. Check the hours on parking garages since some close early on Saturdays. We recommend you come to the rally by bus or by Metro.

The new al-Qaida field commander in Afghanistan is calling for Muslims to leave the U.S. – particularly Washington and New York – in anticipation of a major terror attack to rival Sept. 11, according to an interview by a Pakistani journalist.

Abu Dawood told Hamid Mir, a reporter who has covered al-Qaida and met with Osama bin Laden, the attack is being coordinated by Adnan el-Shukrijumah and suggests it may involve some form of weapon of mass destruction smuggled across the Mexican border.

“Our brothers are ready to attack inside America. We will breach their security again,” he is quoted as saying. “There is no timeframe for our attack inside America; we can do it any time.”

As WND has previously reported, el-Shukrijumah is a trained nuclear technician and accomplished pilot who has been singled out by bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri to serve as the field commander for the next terrorist attack on U.S. soil.

The terrorist was last seen in Mexico, where, on Nov. 1, 2004, he allegedly hijacked a Piper PA Pawnee cropduster from Ejido Queretaro near Mexicali to transport a nuclear weapon and nuclear equipment into the U.S., according to Paul Williams, a former FBI consultant and author of The Dunces of Doomsday.

“He is an American and a friend of Muhammad Atta, who led 9/11 attacks five years ago,” said Dawood. “We call him ‘Jaffer al Tayyar’ (Jafer the Pilot); he is very brave and intelligent. (President) Bush is aware that brother Adnan has smuggled deadly materials inside America from the Mexican border. Bush is silent about him, because he doesn’t want to panic his people. Sheikh Osama bin Laden has completed his cycle of warnings. You know, he is man of his words, he is not a politician; he always does what he says. If he said it many times that Americans will see new attacks, they will definitely see new attacks. He is a real mujahid. Americans will not win this war, which they have started against Muslims. Americans are the biggest supporters of the biggest terrorist in the world, which is Israel.”

Dawood said he was currently conducting operations in Afghanistan under the leadership of the Taliban. He warned of a series of upcoming suicide bombings there directed against government and coalition forces during Ramadan.

He is also quoted as saying the next attack in America will not be conducted by people like Atta.

“Live our values,” Gen. David Petraeus wrote recently to troops in Afghanistan. “This is what distinguishes us from our enemies.”

Unfortunately, this is also what distinguishes us from many of our “friends.” This culture-chasm is what makes the infidel struggle for hearts and minds across Islamic lands so recklessly, wastefully futile, something I was once again reminded of on reading Time magazine’s cover story featuring 18-year-old Aisha. Aisha is a lovely Afghan girl whose husband and brother-in-law, on instructions from a local judge and Taliban commander, sliced off her ears and nose and left her dying to set an example for other wives thinking of running away from abusive in-laws. Only her discovery by U.S. troops saved Aisha’s life.

But where was Aisha’s father? Where was her family? Where were her town’s elders? Where was Hamid Karzai? Turns out her family did nothing to protect her from the Taliban, Time writes. Why? The magazine describes a mixture of fear and shame that I hope still strikes the average American family as so foreign as extra-terrestrials. Time further explains: “A girl who runs away is automatically considered a prostitute … and families that allow them back home would be subject to widespread ridicule.” When Aisha’s father enticed her home with promises of a new husband, the girl refused because she was fearful that her family would sell her into slavery, or murder her.

Similar scenarios play out beyond the wilds of the Taliban zone wherever Sharia culture flowers, an expanding zone that now includes urban centers of the Western world – from Berlin to London to Atlanta to Calgary – where previously unimagined assaults on women and girls are taking place almost exclusively from within Islamic communities. This gruesome fact renders Time’s cover line – “What Happens if We Leave Afghanistan” – absurdly provincial in scope. That is, it’s not only in Afghanistan where Islamic men have dominion over Islamic women. It is wherever Islamic law, de facto or de jure, empowers them.

It is into this brutish society that American and NATO troops have again been ordered to mix, this time by Gen. Petraeus who believes, as a Pentagon release put it, “meeting and understanding the people is the main mission for military forces.” Calling for more interaction with “the people,” Petraeus told his forces: “Take off your sunglasses. Situational awareness can only be gained by interacting face to face, not separated by ballistic glass or Oakleys.” This last bit inspired a note from a Marine mom who reminded me that eye protection is what defends our soldiers from blast-borne fragments that cause blindness or brain injuries.

Petraeus seems bent on stripping our men bare, almost literally, to make them symbols of a non-threatening openness that he and other counterinsurgency (COIN) zealots insist will win what he calls “the decisive terrain” – aka, the Afghan people. Of course, that same “terrain” includes not only poor Aisha, but also her cowardly, complicit father, her murderous in-laws, her acquiescent town elders, and corrupto-crat Karzai, whose silence on the plight of women worries observers already concerned about Kabul’s and Washington’s overtures to the Taliban. Meanwhile, as one female Afghan parliamentarian estimated to Time, fewer than a dozen of the 68 female parliamentarians in Afghanistan support women’s rights. Time writes: “The rest – proxies for conservative men who boosted them into power – aren’t interested.”

Aren’t interested? Incredible – at least to people who believe that for a battered bride, no-fault divorce beats slavery and murder. To Sharia-culturalists, however, such “women’s rights” violate their code. This is something that Westerners, convinced they are born to be loved and envied, can’t grasp. “Is America going to abandon the women of Afghanistan?” an overwrought Christiane Amanpour demanded of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on ABC, brandishing Time’s Aisha edition.

It is Islam that abandoned these women, Christiane, not America, and not just in Afghanistan. Whether prisoners of Islamic law or promoters or Islamic law, such women are beyond the reach of America’s ineffectual attempts at “nation-building” – unless, of course, the nation being built is also wholly de-Sharified. Short of a intergalactic missionary movement enforced by robo-conquistadors, that ain’t going to happen.

“Live your values,” says Gen. Petraeus. “This is what distinguishes us from our enemies.” Amen, general. But how about living them – and guarding them against Sharia – at home?

No Fire Support; No Glasses; More ‘Chai’; No Warrior Friendly Change!

For those who held out hope that the ROE was going to undergo a ‘positive transformation’ under General Petraeus, you will be disappointed. This is the point where I am suppose to say; ‘I told you so’.

The truth is that there is very little satisfaction in a comment like that because in almost every case; the moment has passed. The salient points, the truths, the opportunities for change have usually passed; subtly, unnoticed and the great harm those points might have stopped, will, in this case, most certainly lead to the death of someone’s loved one and all at the cost of arrogance.

When the initial story broke 3 days ago, it went almost entirely unnoticed and even for those who read it, the most egregious element of the story seemed to be missed entirely and that is the highlighting of General Petraeus’s unchallenged ego. In a war that has seen a growing number of well-informed, well-educated and experienced individuals challenging the strategy and it’s ROE, there is also this relentless effort to push forward even in light of a growing body of evidence that it is a losing strategy. Even the entire spectrum of the media seems incapacitated or unwilling to accept the possibility that there seems to be a problem.

The Gulf Oil Spill, the Boy Scouts, Charlie Rangel’s broken compass, Lindsay Lohan, the cost of Mastiffs, Reality TV, Obama’s Maine vacation all seem to bear greater significance in the American psyche than does the plight of young Men and Women who have, in the taking of their oaths, pledged to lay down their lives at the whim of madmen. It just isn’t ‘sexy’ enough.

This morning I got a note from Andy Bostom, a good friend with a passion for the welfare of our troops, with what is now the official release of the good General’s assessment of the ROE and his intent. From the story:

“Going several steps better, General Petraeus has reportedly expanded the ban on air strikes and artillery fire to all types of buildings, tree-lined areas and hillsides where it is difficult to distinguish who is on the ground.”

The fact is, not only has he deemed the ROE as proper, he has deemed it not tight enough.

This is a precisely correct assessment in a COIN environment. If it is going to succeed and if the leadership on the ground deems it to be succeeding, each iteration and review of the ROE will be necessarily tighter than it’s preceding version. This highlights a problem in the way the media and most of those studying and following this issue view it and assess changes to it. The assumption that a new leader might be willing to ‘loosen’ the ROE means the person making the assumption, does not understand the doctrine and that is what we have been trying to change; the lack of understanding of COIN.

He has even determined that the wearing of Oakley, polycarbonate safety glasses by our American Warriors to be detrimental to the apparent security of the Afghan population. He has directed that all, ‘in-country’, make great efforts to meet and greet the locals, without the glasses.

For those of you who don’t know, those glasses use ballistic lenses that protect against the micro-sand famous in desert terrain, shrapnel, flying debris and, oh yeah; intense sunlight. This is not only a safety device but a ‘health and comfort’ item. Many parents were upset when McChrystal ordered the removal of fast food restaurants in Afghanistan. I have made it clear it was of little consequence to the average Marine Corps Infantryman who rarely if ever saw one while there. But these glasses represent one of the few ‘amenities’ available in that extreme duty and they are in fact necessary for their protection.

Diana West’s latest piece in discussing the folly of COIN in this environment details the complete lack of understanding of the culture in Afghanistan which is defined by it’s adherence to Sharia. Trying to impose our delicate western sensibilities on the battlefield is foolish enough, doing it on a battlefield within a Sharia compliant country is suicide.

So the main question remains; what will it take to wake up the American citizenry, the unresponsive political servants in DC and the money-minded media?

As Christians we understand that the way we live our lives in the presence of others is a testimony to our faith and of the transformation that has taken place within us by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The resilient determination of our Warriors in the face of a violent culture in Afghanistan and a relentlessly defiant ISAF and his immoral ROE, is the testimony of a remnant of this generation’s sense of personal honor and their understanding of selfless service.

The good General should be advised not to seek the limits of that resilience or the ignorance of the general American population.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents overwhelmingly say that their department’s leadership has become politicized to the point of affecting the effectiveness of ICE.

ICE agents through their union claim their leaders have little regard for the safety of American people. Their union has released a letter announcing its recent unanimous “vote of no confidence” in ICE agency heads, accusing them of “misleading the American public” regarding illegal immigration in order to further a pro-amnesty agenda.

The National Immigration and Customs Enforcement Council and its affiliated local councils cast a unanimous 259-0 vote of no confidence in ICE Director John Morton and Assistant Director Phyllis Coven, according to Fox News Channel’s Martha MacCallum.

The National Council members criticized the ICE leadership and claim they created “misguided and reckless initiatives,” and claim ICE managers “abandoned the Agency’s core mission of enforcing United States immigration laws and providing for public safety, and have instead directed their attention to campaigning for policies and programs related to amnesty.”

Besides Morton’s and Coven’s low marks, the Obama Administration recently appointed a former police chief, who believes in illegal alien sanctuary city policies, to command the immigration enforcement program that entails federal agents working with local police departments on cases involving illegal aliens.

As part of the Homeland Security Department’s anti-terrorism mission, the new director for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Office of State and Local Coordination is now Harold Hurtt, an outspoken critic of immigration enforcement on the local level such as Arizona’s new immigration enforcement law. “As police chief in two different cities with huge illegal alien populations – Phoenix and Houston – Hurtt enforced don’t-ask-don’t-tell immigration measures that prevented officers from inquiring about a suspects’ legal status in the U.S.,” according to officials at Judicial Watch, a non-partisan, public-interest group that investigates public corruption.

In his new post, Hurtt will receive a salary $180,000 a year plus benefits to oversee outreach and communication between federal immigration staff and local law enforcement agencies. He is charged with strengthening the collaboration between local police and federal immigration officials in an effort to combat a crisis that has rocked practically every major U.S. city and many small municipalities, according to Judicial Watch officials.

Homeland Security officials are promoting Hurtt as “a respected member of the law enforcement community” who will be an “invaluable asset to ICE’s outreach and coordination efforts.”

However, the reality is quite different, say proponents of tough immigration enforcement. Chief Hurtt is on record opposing immigration enforcement and as police chief protected the most violent of criminals. Hurtt has even testified before Congress that local police should not assist with immigration enforcement, say officials at Judicial Watch.

President Barack Obama has ordered the Justice Department to fight the Arizona law, which he claims is racist and unconstitutional. Officials in sanctuary cities couldn’t agree more and they want illegal aliens in their beloved city to feel safe. “We can expect Chief Hurtt to continue to ‘protect’ criminal aliens as part of the Obama Administration’s ‘national security team” that includes other leftists who side with criminal aliens such as Attorney General Eric Holder, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and other Obama appointees,” said former military intelligence officer and NYPD police detective Mike Snopes.

His pro-immigration policies enabled illegal immigrants with extensive criminal histories to murder two police officers and seriously injure another while he was chief in Phoenix and later in Houston. Judicial Watch filed a lawsuit against Hurtt on behalf of the deceased Houston officer’s wife for implementing the sanctuary policies that led to her husband’s murder at the hands of an illegal alien fugitive.

In the 2007 incident, Officer Rodney Johnson was brutally shot by a previously deported illegal immigrant during a traffic stop. The illegal alien, Juan Quintero, had an extensive criminal record and had been deported three years earlier for molesting a child.

The Mexican national had also been in trouble for driving while intoxicated, driving with a suspended license and for failing to stop and provide information after an automobile accident. When Johnson arrested him, Quintero shot him four times in the back of the head with a 9 millimeter handgun concealed in the waistband of his pants.

Some illegal aliens in the United States have been arrested and incarcerated in federal and state prisons and local jails, adding to already overcrowded prisons and jails. On April 7, 2007, the US Justice Department issued a report on criminal aliens that were incarcerated in federal and state prisons and local jails.

In the population study of 55,322 illegal aliens, researchers found that they were arrested at least a total of 459,614 times, averaging about 8 arrests per illegal alien. Nearly all had more than 1 arrest. Thirty-eight percent (about 21,000) had between 2 and 5 arrests, 32 percent (about 18,000) had between 6 and 10 arrests, and 26 percent (about 15,000) had 11 or more arrests. Most of the arrests occurred after 1990.

They were arrested for a total of about 700,000 criminal offenses, averaging about 13 offenses per illegal alien. One arrest incident may include multiple offenses, a fact that explains why there are nearly one and half times more offenses than arrests. Almost all of these illegal aliens were arrested for more than 1 offense. Slightly more than half of the 55,322 illegal aliens had between 2 and 10 offenses.

“[Hurtt’s] appointment is simply one more nail in the coffin of America’s soverignty,” Det. Snopes said.

Where are the media and our Senators on the subject of Kagan’s fraud on the ACOG report to SCOTUS, and the nine cases against Obama when she was Solicitor General? Business as usual it seems. Today the Senate votes. Why the rush, and no investigation? Ask Harry Reid that one!

Each time it was Kagan who was able to get the cases nixed, often for the reason of “No Standing.” Since when does a a US citizen not have standing in court over an elected official? Once again, the slippery slope is well greased and we are sliding toward the end of this great country.

In 2003, the ban on partial-birth abortion was signed by President Bush – and promptly challenged in court, leading to the 2007 Supreme Court decision upholding its constitutionality, Gonzales v. Carhart.

Along the way to the Gonzales v. Carhart decision, the District Court Judge Richard Kopf ruled the ban unconstitutional, relying heavily on a report that the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) prepared during the Clinton administration.

And he relied on it particularly, he said, because it was produced without influence from the contending parties on abortion – proving its scientific integrity: “Before and during the task force meeting neither ACOG nor the task force members conversed with other individuals or organizations, including congressmen and doctors who provided congressional testimony, concerning the topics [the report] addressed.”

Turns out that isn’t true, even though the report said this was. In a blockbuster article in National Review, Shannen Coffin discloses the evidence he found in Clinton administration documents – a topic made timely by the hearings on Elena Kagan’s nomination to the Supreme Court.

And the evidence, Coffin claims, is that Kagan, from her post in the Clinton White House, wrote the central passages of the ostensibly neutral ACOG report and had them inserted in the text – which reveals, he says, Kagan’s “willingness to manipulate medical science to fit the Democratic party’s political agenda on the hot-button issue of abortion.”

Apparently, the first draft of the ACOG report concluded that its panel “could identify no circumstances” that would make the partial-birth method “the only option to save the life or preserve the health of the woman.”

Kagan, then deputy assistant for domestic policy, issued a quick update to the White House:

This, of course, would be disaster – not the less so (in fact, the more so) because ACOG continues to oppose the legislation. It is unclear whether ACOG will issue the statement; even if it does not, there is obviously a chance that the draft will become public.

Coffin explains what happened next:

So Kagan set about solving the problem. Her notes, produced by the White House to the Senate Judiciary Committee, show that she herself drafted the critical language hedging ACOG’s position. On a document captioned “Suggested Options” – which she apparently faxed to the legislative director at ACOG – Kagan proposed that ACOG include the following language: “An intact D&X, however, may be the best or most appropriate procedure in a particular circumstance to save the life or preserve the health of a woman.”

Kagan’s language was copied verbatim by the ACOG executive board into its final statement, where it then became one of the greatest evidentiary hurdles faced by Justice Department lawyers (of whom I was one) in defending the federal ban. (Kagan’s role was never disclosed to the courts.)

This is the hard hand of politics forcing scientific fraud to get the results it wants. “What’s described in these memos is easily the most serious and flagrant violation of the boundary between scientific expertise and politics I have ever encountered,” notes Yuval Levin.

But it is just as much a fraud upon the courts that relied on the independence of the ACOG “independent report.” And the fraud persisted all the way to the Supreme Court that Elena Kagan has now been nominated to join.

Given the current make-up of the Senate, and the academic backing that Kagan has as a successful law-school dean, there seemed little point in investing much energy in opposing her nomination. She appeared a shoo-in from the beginning.

But this revelation yesterday from Shannen Coffin is deeply disturbing. She will undoubtedly be questioned about this today. Indeed, I imagine her handlers have been up all night trying to find an explanation. We’ll have to wait to see what account Kagan offers, but, as of now, the evidence looks damning.

Democrats act as if the right to run across the border when you’re 8 1/2 months pregnant, give birth in a U.S. hospital and then immediately start collecting welfare was exactly what our forebears had in mind, a sacred constitutional right, as old as the 14th Amendment itself.

The louder liberals talk about some ancient constitutional right, the surer you should be that it was invented in the last few decades.

In fact, this alleged right derives only from a footnote slyly slipped into a Supreme Court opinion by Justice Brennan in 1982. You might say it snuck in when no one was looking, and now we have to let it stay.

The 14th Amendment was added after the Civil War in order to overrule the Supreme Court’s Dred Scott decision, which had held that black slaves were not citizens of the United States. The precise purpose of the amendment was to stop sleazy Southern states from denying citizenship rights to newly freed slaves—many of whom had roots in this country longer than a lot of white people.

The amendment guaranteed that freed slaves would have all the privileges of citizenship by providing: “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.”

The drafters of the 14th amendment had no intention of conferring citizenship on the children of aliens who happened to be born in the U.S. (For my younger readers, back in those days, people cleaned their own houses and raised their own kids.)

Inasmuch as America was not the massive welfare state operating as a magnet for malingerers, frauds and cheats that it is today, it’s amazing the drafters even considered the amendment’s effect on the children of aliens.

But they did.

The very author of the citizenship clause, Sen. Jacob Howard of Michigan, expressly said: “This will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, who belong to the families of ambassadors or foreign ministers.”

In the 1884 case Elk v. Wilkins, the Supreme Court ruled that the 14th Amendment did not even confer citizenship on Indians—because they were subject to tribal jurisdiction, not U.S. jurisdiction.

For a hundred years, that was how it stood, with only one case adding the caveat that children born to LEGAL permanent residents of the U.S., gainfully employed, and who were not employed by a foreign government would also be deemed citizens under the 14th Amendment. (United States v. Wong Kim Ark, 1898.)

And then, out of the blue in 1982, Justice Brennan slipped a footnote into his 5-4 opinion in Plyler v. Doe, asserting that “no plausible distinction with respect to Fourteenth Amendment ‘jurisdiction’ can be drawn between resident aliens whose entry into the United States was lawful, and resident aliens whose entry was unlawful.” (Other than the part about one being lawful and the other not.)

Brennan’s authority for this lunatic statement was that it appeared in a 1912 book written by Clement L. Bouve. (Yes, THE Clement L. Bouve – the one you’ve heard so much about over the years.) Bouve was not a senator, not an elected official, certainly not a judge – just some guy who wrote a book.

So on one hand we have the history, the objective, the author’s intent and 100 years of history of the 14th Amendment, which says that the 14th Amendment does not confer citizenship on children born to illegal immigrants.

On the other hand, we have a random outburst by some guy named Clement—who, I’m guessing, was too cheap to hire an American housekeeper.

Any half-wit, including Clement L. Bouve, could conjure up a raft of such “plausible distinction(s)” before breakfast. Among them: Legal immigrants have been checked for subversive ties, contagious diseases, and have some qualification to be here other than “lives within walking distance.”

But most important, Americans have a right to decide, as the people of other countries do, who becomes a citizen.

Combine Justice Brennan’s footnote with America’s ludicrously generous welfare policies, and you end up with a bankrupt country.

Consider the story of one family of illegal immigrants described in the Spring 2005 Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons:

“Cristobal Silverio came illegally from Oxtotilan, Mexico, in 1997 and brought his wife Felipa, plus three children aged 19, 12 and 8. Felipa … gave birth to a new daughter, her anchor baby, named Flor. Flor was premature, spent three months in the neonatal incubator, and cost San Joaquin Hospital more than $300,000. Meanwhile, (Felipa’s 19-year-old daughter) Lourdes plus her illegal alien husband produced their own anchor baby, Esmeralda. Grandma Felipa created a second anchor baby, Cristian. ... The two Silverio anchor babies generate $1,000 per month in public welfare funding. Flor gets $600 per month for asthma. Healthy Cristian gets $400. Cristobal and Felipa last year earned $18,000 picking fruit. Flor and Cristian were paid $12,000 for being anchor babies.”

In the Silverios’ munificent new hometown of Stockton, Calif., 70 percent of the 2,300 babies born in 2003 in the San Joaquin General Hospital were anchor babies. As of this month, Stockton is $23 million in the hole.

It’s bad enough to be governed by 5-4 decisions written by liberal judicial activists. In the case of “anchor babies,” America is being governed by Brennan’s 1982 footnote.

THE KAABA IN MECCA WAS NOT BUILT AS AN ISLAMIC MOSQUE. It was an ancient temple that had been shared by polytheists, Christians, Jews, and Hindus, honoring 360 different deities. In 630 A.D. the Kaaba was captured by Islam in its military invasion and conquest of Mecca.

On the day of its capture, Muhammad delivered an address at the Kaaba in military dress and helmet, according to Ayatullah Ja’far Subhani in his book, “The Message”:

“Bear in mind that every claim of privilege, whether that of blood or property is abolished . . . I reject all claims relating to life and property and all imaginary honors of the past, and declare them to be baseless . . . A Muslim is the brother of another Muslim and all the Muslims are brothers of one another and constitute one hand as against the non-Muslims. The blood of every one of them is equal to that of others and even the smallest among them can make a promise on behalf of others.” —Muhammad

Muhammad’s address at the Kaaba overthrew the Meccan government and declared all of Islam, anywhere in the world, to be a political and military state against all non-Muslims, regardless of the non-Muslims’ political, geographical, or national origins.

“If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah), never will it be accepted of him.” —Quran 3:85

Although the rightful owners of the Kaaba are the many religions that shared it before the Islamic military conquest of Mecca, according to Subhani the Kaaba today is under the control of a hereditary regime going back to Muhammad: “currently the 12th Imam from the direct descent of the Prophet of Islam is the real protector, its custodian and guardian.”

All Islamic mosques everywhere in the world are required to have a clear visible indication pointing in the direction of Mecca and the Kaaba, where the international political and military state of Islam was founded. In most mosques there is a niche in the wall—the mihrab—that points toward the seat of Islamic power. Each mosque, like the Kaaba, is governed by an Imam in compliance with the political documents of Islam.

The Quran is the supreme political document of Islam—its political manifesto and political constitution. It is the only constitution of the nation-state Saudi Arabia, which is the home of Mecca and the Kaaba, where all mosques point, and is the birthplace of Islam.

The Quran is a totalitarian constitution. It demands submission by anyone within its jurisdiction. The Quran governs all mosques everywhere in the world.

As a political document, the Quran asserts that everyone in the world is within its jurisdiction. So far, Islam has not been able to enforce that totalitarian claim on the entire world, but has managed to do so through threat, infiltration, violence, terrorism, and coercion on roughly 20% of the world. It is engaged in a 1400-year-long Universal Jihad to dominate the rest of the world. All mosques are its outpost headquarters.

Central to the Quran’s political mandates is prohibition of religious freedom and religious tolerance, along with denouncements of religions such as Christianity and Judaism.

“O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: They are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them.” —Quran 5:51

“Fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war)” —Quran 9:5

All mosque leaders must be loyal to and supportive of these political and militaristic mandates.

The Quran as a political document also forbids separation of church and state. That is why every Islamic nation, where Islamic leaders have managed to gain power, is a theocracy, ruled by the Quran and Islamic Sharia law.

The Hadith (reported sayings and acts of Muhammad) and the Sira (the official biographies of Muhammad) are the other political documents that, along with the Quran, constitute the basis for Islam’s Sharia law.

The attorney in question submitted her assertion in a special article in the Canada Free Press. Her argument states in part,

“Does anyone read the U.S. Constitution these days? American lawyers don’t read it. Federal Judge Susan R. Bolton apparently has never read it. Same goes for our illustrious Attorney General Eric Holder. But this lawyer has read it and she is going to show you something in Our Constitution which is as plain as the nose on your face.

Article III, Sec. 2, clause 2 says:

“In all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, and those in which a State shall be Party, the supreme Court shall have original Jurisdiction. In all the other Cases before mentioned, the supreme Court shall have appellate Jurisdiction.”

In other words, the Judge in the Arizona case has absolutely no Constitutional jurisdiction over the matter upon which she ruled. As the Constitution makes abundantly clear, only the U.S. Supreme Court can issue rulings that involve a state.

This means that neither Judge Bolton nor the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco, to which the case is being appealed, have any legal standing whatsoever to rule on the issue.

Thus, U.S. Attorney-General Eric Holder filed the federal government’s lawsuit against the state of Arizona in a court that has no authority to hear the case.

The attorney whose heads-up thinking concerning the Constitution provides the legal remedy for dealing with this blatant disregard for Constitutional law in the article at Canada Free Press, which can be accessed at the link above.

In a related development, another explosive discovery was made by those who actually take the Constitution seriously. The Constitution specifically allows an individual state to wage war against a neighboring country in the event of an invasion, should there be a dangerous delay or inaction on the part of the federal government. This information was cited by United Patriots of America.

From Article I, Section 10 of the U.S. Constitution, we find these words: “No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay.”

No one who is actually familiar with the crisis at the southern border can deny that Arizona is endangered by the relentless assault of lawless Mexican invaders who ignore our laws, inundate our schools and medical facilities with unpaid bills, and even endanger the very lives of citizens with criminal drug cartels that engage in kidnapping, murder, human trafficking, and other mayhem, including aiming missile and grenade launchers directly at U.S. border cities from just across the Mexican border.

This is every bit as much of an invasion as the nation of Iran sending in a fleet of warships to the Port of Charleston.

The Constitution that forms the basis of the rule of law in this country says that Arizona has legal right to protect itself in the case of inaction or delay on the part of the federal government, including waging war in its self-defense.

This, when coupled with the clear Constitutional mandate that only the Supreme Court hear cases involving the states, should be ample legal basis for attorneys representing Arizona to go after the federal government with a vengeance.

Governor Jan Brewer and the stalwart members of the Arizona legislature have ample legal reason to stand firm against the illegal bullying of an arrogant, lawless federal government.

Last week, a tectonic shift took place in the firmament of the War of Ideas. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich directly and forcefully took on Shariah, the totalitarian theo-political-military program of authoritative Islam that its adherents seek to impose on the entire world. As he noted, the United States is squarely in the cross-hairs of Shariah’s devotees.

In response, the usual suspects – the multiculturally sensitive elite that reflexively excuses the Islamists joined by proponents of the latters’ stealth jihad, notably elements of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) – have reflexively responded by accusing the Speaker of “bashing” Muslims. It is, of course, far easier to engage in ad hominem attacks than contend with Newt’s characteristically thoughtful and informed critique. It is also expedient to try to portray a focused challenge to the beliefs and practices of a subset of the Islamic faith as an assault on all Muslims.

In fact, it is not “bashing” all Muslims if one points out that the comprehensive doctrine to which some of them adhere is a threat to our liberties, our government and our way of life. Objectively, that is the case; a global theocracy – the end-state commanded by Shariah – administering a severely repressive, even barbaric criminal code aimed at enforcing submission by Muslims and non-Muslims alike is incompatible with the U.S. Constitution.

As it happens, one man who has expressly said he seeks to “bring Shariah to America” is Feisal Abdul Rauf, the imam currently promoting construction of a 13-story, $100 million mosque once dubbed “Cordoba House” in proximity to Ground Zero. Speaker Gingrich has properly and powerfully opposed that idea: In an op.ed. in Human Events last week, he wrote: “It is simply grotesque to erect a mosque at the site of the most visible and powerful symbol of the horrible consequences of radical Islamist ideology…. For radical Islamists, the mosque would become an icon of triumph, encouraging them in their challenge to our civilization.”

Unfortunately, the problem is not merely the location of the mosque. Rather, it lies with those like Imam Rauf who are advancing the Muslim Brotherhood agenda that Mr. Gingrich calls “creeping Shariah” and the MB itself says is “to destroy Western civilization from within.”

Rauf has myriad connections to the Muslim Brotherhood. His father was a prominent figure in the organization back in Egypt in the 1940s. After Gamal Nasser cracked down on the organization, the elder Rauf fled first to Kuwait, where Feisal was born, then made his way to Malaysia and ultimately America. Once in New York, he bought up a third of a city block on the Upper East Side and built a large, Shariah adherent mosque and Islamic Center on 96th Street. The younger Rauf serves on the board of that mosque.

Feisal Abdul Rauf also published in 2004 a book entitled What’s Right About Islam is What’s Right about America. It is in English, but intended for Muslim audiences. Interestingly, this book appeared under a different title in Malaysia (and in the local language, not in English). The title has been changed, in an instructive way: A Call to Prayer from the WTC Rubble: Islamic Dawa in the Heart of America Post 9/11.

Now, dawa is the essence of creeping Shariah. Dawa is all about proselytizing, recruiting and indoctrinating in the ways of Shariah and the jihad it demands. And, as the acknowledgements page of the American version indicates, “a special non-commercial edition [of the book was published] to promote a proper understanding of Islam and common ground between Islam and the West.” The organizations that made that possible were two that the U.S. government has identified as Brotherhood fronts: the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) and the International Institute for Islamic Thought (IIIT).

As Debra Burlingame, sister of the pilot of the aircraft that was flown into the Pentagon on 9/11, observes: “No Muslim cleric who believes in ‘religious tolerance’ and who purports to be a U.S. Constitution-embracing American, would ever, ever give his book, his work, to these two organizations for dissemination. This would be akin to someone who makes racial equality their sole cause in life, donating their book to the KKK to recruit members.”

Then, there is another book by Feisal Rauf: Islam: A Sacred Law – What Every Muslim Should Know About Shariah. It makes clear the imam’s affinity for the Wahhabi and Salafi doctrines. As the New York Police Department documented in a major analysis released two years ago and entitled Radicalization in the West: The Homegrown Threat, there is an ominous connection between indoctrination in Wahhabi mosques and Islamist “radicalization” here.

In short, Imam Rauf is clear, particularly with Muslim audiences, that he seeks to impose Shariah here in America. He is no moderate. To the contrary, he has myriad ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and its seditious, Shariah program. As a result, it seems all-too-predictable that the megamosque he seeks to build at Ground Zero would be a beachhead for Shariah and a new, dangerous incubator of jihadism in the heart of New York.

It is not “bashing” any Muslim to point out these facts. To the contrary, it would be the height of irresponsibility not to take note of, and act upon, them – first by stopping the Ground Zero Mosque, then by ensuring that America remains Shariah-free.

Military sources report: The Israeli Air Force had been drilling high-risk attacks on precipitous cliff caves similar to the mountain tunnels in which Iran has hidden nuclear facilities. The crash occurred in the last stage of a joint Israeli-US-Romanian exercise for simulating an attack on Iran. Aboard the helicopter were six Israeli airmen and a Romanian flight captain.

Thwarted by Moscow’s refusal to sell them S-300 interceptor missiles, Iran has given up on adequate air and missile defense shields for its nuclear sites and in the last couple of years has been blasting deep tunnels beneath mountain peaks more than 2,000 meters high for housing nuclear facilities. There, they were thought by Tehran to be safe from air or missile attack.

The American and Israeli air forces have since been developing tactics for evading Iranian radar and flying at extremely low-altitudes through narrow mountain passes so as to reach the tunnel entrances for attacks on the nuclear equipment undetected. The drill in Romania took place at roughly the same altitude and in similar terrain that a US or Israeli air attack would expect to encounter in Iran. For such strikes, special missiles would be used that are capable of flying the length of a tunnel, however twisty, and detonating only when its warhead identifies and contacts its target.

The entire maneuver is extremely hazardous. The pilots must be exceptionally skilled, capable of split-second timing in rising from low-altitudes to points opposite the high tunnel entrances without crashing into the surrounding mountain walls. The Israeli helicopter is reported to have flown into a cloud patch hanging over its simulated target and crashed into a steep mountainside, while the second helicopter flying in the formation avoided the cloud and continued without incident. Israeli and American Air Force pilots are instructed, when encountering cloud cover of the target, to go around it. At all times, they must have eye contact with their target.

The accident revealed to military observers that the Israeli Air Force is practicing long-distance flights not only by bombers, but also heavy helicopters, such as the “Yasour” CH-53, which would require in-flight refueling. These practice flights have been taking place in cooperation with Greece and Bulgaria as well as Romania, whose distance from Israel of 1,600 kilometers approximates that of Iran. American air bases in Romania and Bulgaria participate in the drills. The latest exercise with Romania, known as Blue Sky 2010, followed up on the five-day US-Israeli Juniper Stallion 2010 war game held off the coast of southern Israel from June 6-10.

In that exercise, 60 F/A-18E/F Super Hornet bomber jets took off from the decks of the USS Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group several times around the clock to strike at simulated targets at Nevatim, the main Israeli Air Force firing range in the Negev.

Squadrons of American F-16 fighter jets taking off from bases in Germany and Romania landed at Israeli air bases, refueled and took off with Israeli air force bomber squadrons for simulated long-range bombing missions over the Red Sea and the Mediterranean. Along the way, they practiced air-to-air combat encounters.

The US Air Force has established its Romanian facility at the Mikhail Kogalniceanu Air Base on the Black Sea shore near the city of Constanta. And in Bulgaria, the Americans have the use of Bezmer Air Base, 50 kilometers from the southern sector of the Black Sea. debkafile’s military sources say the two facilities are placed for swift US Air Force responses in the Mediterranean Sea and the Middle East.

Bill Clinton lowered the culture, moral tone and strength of the nation – and left America vulnerable to attack. When it came, George W. Bush stood up for America, albeit sometimes clumsily.

Barack Obama, however, has pulled off the ultimate switcheroo: He’s diminishing America from within – so far, successfully.

He may soon bankrupt us and replace our big merit-based capitalist economy with a small government-directed one of his own design.

He is undermining our constitutional traditions: The rule of law and our Anglo-Saxon concepts of private property hang in the balance. Obama may be the most “consequential” president ever.

The Wall Street Journal’s steadfast Dorothy Rabinowitz wrote that Barack Obama is “an alien in the White House.”

His bullying and offenses against the economy and job creation are so outrageous that CEOs in the Business Roundtable finally mustered the courage to call him “anti-business.” Veteran Democrat Sen. Max Baucus blurted out that Obama is engineering the biggest government-forced “redistribution of income” in history.

It has been six years since the special Project Daniel Group first advised on the unique threat of Iranian nuclear weapons in January 2003. Our detailed final report urged then-Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to enhance Israel’s deterrence and defense postures, to consider an end to deliberate nuclear ambiguity if Iran should become nuclear and to suitably refine pertinent pre-emption options. It also concluded that Israel should not expect peaceful coexistence with a nuclear Iran, and that active national defenses should be strengthened.

Today, Israel’s core plan for active defense remains the Arrow. To adequately protect against attack from Iran, however, this system of ballistic missile defense must be complemented by improved Israeli deterrence, and also by truly viable options for defensive first strikes against appropriate hard targets. Under no circumstances should it be assumed in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv that a stable “balance of terror” could be created with Tehran. The essential assumption of enemy rationality simply might not always be warranted. Any analogy between Iran and our own deterrence relationship with the former Soviet Union would be facile and out of place.

Of course, if the Arrow were entirely efficient, even an irrational Iranian adversary armed with nuclear and/or biological weapons could be kept at bay without defensive first strikes, and/or threats of retaliation. But no BMD system can ever be truly “leak-proof.” Moreover, terrorist proxies in ships or trucks – not missiles – could deliver Iranian nuclear attacks upon Israel. In such low-tech but high-consequence assaults, there would be no benefit to any sort of anti-missile defenses.

Israel cannot depend upon its anti-ballistic missiles to fully defend against any future WMD attack from Iran any more than it can rely only on nuclear deterrence. This does not mean that the Arrow fails to play an important protective role as part of a larger security apparatus. It is a distinctly necessary part of Israel’s security posture, but it is also not sufficient.

Every state has an indisputable right under international law to act pre-emptively when facing a potentially existential aggression. The 1996 advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice even extends such authority to the pre-emptive use of nuclear weapons in certain existential circumstances; but – at least for now – Israel could still undertake “anticipatory self-defense” without such weapons. It must be noted further that Russia has agreed to sell Iran its SA-20 strategic-range air defense system. Once deployed, this system would further complicate the success of any Israeli hard-target pre-emption.

If, for whatever reason, Iran should be permitted to proceed to become fully nuclear, Israel would – at a minimum – have to enhance the credibility of its presumed nuclear deterrent, and also to deploy a recognizable second-strike force. This optimally robust strategic force – hardened, multiplied and dispersed – would be fashioned to inflict a decisive retaliatory blow against selected enemy cities. Iran should understand, therefore, that the actual costs of any planned aggression against Israel would always exceed any conceivable gains.

The substantial dangers of a nuclear Iran would also impact the United States. While it could still be several years before any Iranian missiles could strike actual American territory, the United States could still be as vulnerable as Israel to nuclear-armed terrorist surrogates. In this connection, any American plan for a “rogue state” anti-ballistic missile shield would have the very same limitations as Israel’s Arrow.

International law is not a suicide pact. When Iran still announces explicitly genocidal intentions while simultaneously and illegally developing nuclear weapons, Israel has absolutely no choice but to protect itself with the best means available. Hopefully, America’s new president will promptly support this fundamental right of Israeli survival.

In the especially urgent matter of Iranian nuclearization, President Obama should also quickly acknowledge the overwhelming mutuality of strategic interest between Israel and the United States. Both countries are in the very same boat. A fully nuclear Iran would prove an intolerable hazard to New York, Washington and Los Angeles and to Haifa, Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

The Declaration of Independence states that our government derives its just – or lawful – powers from the “consent of the governed.” The underlying principle implied in the Declaration was that “We the People” are the true and rightful government of the United States, and as Abraham Lincoln declared in his Gettysburg Address, “government of the people by the people and for the people shall not perish from this earth.” Elected and appointed officials are managers selected to work on our behalf in order to accomplish our collective will. We do not, however, elect them to dictate what our will is, or should be.

However, in the event that our government becomes one consisting of rulers rather than representatives, our government determined over 200 years ago what our course of action should be.

On June 7, 1776, Richard Henry Lee introduced a resolution to the Second Continental Congress proposing that the thirteen American colonies declare independence from Great Britain. After they consulted with their respective colonies, Congress approved the resolution on July 2. The wording was not approved until two days later, when 56 American patriots would sign “the unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America,” more commonly known as the Declaration of Independence.

The Declaration’s authors listed numerous grievances perpetrated by Britain’s King George III: abolishing the colonies’ laws and representative houses, depriving colonists of their right to trial by jury, trying colonists in overseas kangaroo courts for phony charges, imposing taxes without consent, inciting insurgencies against the colonists, conducting mock trials on British troops charged with murdering colonists, forcing American prisoners to fight against other Americans, and for declaring war on the colonies – the Revolutionary War began fourteen months before Lee introduced his resolution.

But these “repeated injuries and usurpations” were all symptoms of a much larger disease. The founding fathers didn’t declare independence from mock trials and taxation without representation. King George had established “absolute Tyranny” over the colonies, and that tyranny is what drove America to declaring independence.

The Declaration not only absolved our ties with the tyrannical ruler of Great Britain, the document also established individual rights that no man or government could encroach upon:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. – That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed…”
